  1. Unfortunately nowadays people will cheat just to make them self feel better about themselves. Recently I see with all this lock down and the news people communicating through face time, filtering to make yourself look younger or better looking seems to be the in thing.
  2. So if a question came up with what is the name of the famous falls in Canada, and I said Viagra. Would I get a point for being funny or misspelling?
  3. I am not a one for a quiz but I do read the thread associated with it. I think you would be better off holding your quiz once a month as you might get a better turn out.
  4. I saw a clip recently with Bill Bailey/Thames/Seals on paddle boaters boards. Was this some kind of fake entertainment as I have never ever heard of seals being seen in the Thames?
  5. Otherwise known as a poor mans Porsche!
  6. I have heard from different programs on the tv how certain birds are nesting closer to the broads bank and seals have been seen in the Thames. Surely lock down has given wildlife breathing space on the rivers?
  7. Well for me personally I think the lock down hasn't been good for businesses that rely on the broads, but it's been good for the wildlife which is great. So for one year it wont hurt for wildlife to be in the drivers seat instead of boat owners and hire companies.
  8. Well that's where we are headed at the moment and like it or not, these films where you see cities overrun with people, lakes that have dried up and people foraging for food could easily be our future. The people in power seem to be making a start but are they doing enough, and to really make a difference all countries need to be on board. In reality it won't affect them in their lifetime or their children's children, but after that, who knows. Going green for many countries is not cost effective and the leaders want to appeal to the people that they made their country prosper, stay popular and in power. But it will be their undoing and come back to bite them on the backside but will they care, cause not, they will be six foot under. So in time when the poop hits the fan because people are actually taking note that climate change is here to stay, earth will be like a car I once owned, I couldn't find reverse.
  9. That's strange, as a couple of nights ago I tried to go on their website to see what boats they had for sale and for the first time in a few years now, my computer flagged up that the website was dodgy.
  10. But there is a M for management, and from there it begins.
  11. You might be right, but in the long term the world would be better of without man/woman!
  12. For many a millennium it has been know than man will kill animal, eat animal for survival as that what I believe has been bred through mankind to survive. People who choose to go vegetarian I don't always believe to be a good thing, as I think as humans we need a reasonably good diet of meat to survive. Those who kill animals for sport and leave them behind for nature to take its course, that is just barbaric. Just because some animals interfere in our way of life, grabbing livestock that we would normally eat, or eating food that we carelessly dump outside our backdoor, we refer to them as vermin. I'm sure they would consider us as no different.
  13. We eat animals because that is what we do to live. When we kill animals for fun that is a no. As for killing vermin(I assume you are referring to foxes) and have been drinking champagne first, I do not see where you are coming from. Please explain!
  14. Unfortunately it is said it still goes on, and there are those who ignore the law.
  15. Personally I have never agreed with pheasant rearing for some hoo ray henry to have fun blasting it with an 18 bore shotgun. Along with the same type of people who think it is all part of a weekend to drink champagne and chase foxes with a load of beagles. If the animals could shoot or bite back, that would be fun to see!
  16. In this case the EA have installed log structures, so the fish have somewhere to stay outside the natural current flow of the river. If you think the EA are wasting their time and, ummm, wet suits are a better route for fish, I would like to hear your views!
  17. Don't you see him often in person?
  18. Just to add to this, I have a friend who owns the river at the bottom of his property and the EA have implemented structures to help fish during the winter with no cost to himself! It made fishing for himself even better :)
  19. It's well known that if you own land that backs onto a river, it does not always mean that you own the rights to moor up to it.
  20. At this time of year you must be mad to hire a boat out. For me if you need the heating on every night and an umbrella during the day, boating is no fun.

    Hit And Run..

To add to this thread in my opinion, a low cost hire boat, out of season, you do the maths!
  22. So what I have learnt from this thread is that hire companies will do their best for safety on their boats, but can't accommodate for arrogance and stupidity. Potential boat hirers wont want to take up part of their holiday on some kind of boat piloting awareness coarse because less face it, the speed awareness course for cars would be just as boring for a holiday maker keen to get underway. Moderators are human like us, they don't always get it right. And finally, I'm sure the captain and crew who trawl the Bering seas, love to read the the trials and tribulations of those that have trouble crossing the Breydon waters!
  23. Noticed on the HW webcam today on the Lathams side of the bridge, a boat looked as if one of the ropes had broken free and the bridge(the larger air draft of the two) was stopping it from going underneath.
