Have you thought about Silver Myth? It's not forward steer but does have the walk around. Silver Harmony does also but it has the feet under the deck layout.
Looks like a very nice little boat

Ooh you got me excited for a minute, I thought Buccaneer Boats were about to return to hiring holiday cruisers. That may still be the case bit we'll have to wait and see.
I got a bit excited too but we will have to wait to see if its the case it will be nice to see if there will be another yard hiring cruisers on the southern broads

I wonder how much they're asking for their Aquafibre 42. I've filled mine up already!
At the moment the broom skipper is the only one for sale

Me too Simon. Having started out hiring with them in 1973, I will be sorry to see the site being redeveloped.
Are sandersons closing down at the end of the season?

Wasn't astral light originally with NBD at Wroxham, like a few of woods fleet. I would totally agree with the comments about the older boats interiors.. I hired florida light once and it was bloody awful inside and out the engine really had seen better days. The smoke it chucked out on cold sart up was dreadful. Me and the yard manager had quite a disagreement ( I believe it's still the same guy in charge now ) about the engine. Luckily I'd moored by the bridge pilots office the night before we returned the boat and the girls in the office saw all the smoke, whilst they were waiting outside the office that mooring and backed me up. He wasn't impressed.

Thanks Matthew, that was my first thought too. Strangely, Caribbean is the cheaper boat, but is the one with a bow thruster fitted and the pictures make the interior look slightly more modern.
I will show them both to local management and she will tell me which one I like best!
Hmm.. Im not to sure then, best go with your personal opinion

I'm not sure the words 'refit' and 'Herbert Woods' are often used in the same sentence?
Very true

Tuesday 20th July
We made the short chug to Loddon Staithe for water and provisions. I think there had been one or two spaces available there overnight based on how many were available when we arrived. Our destination today was Oulton Broad and after a short stop at the Staithe we headed off in that direction. Coming up the Chet on Monday afternoon we met nobody in the opposite direction whereas on our return journey we must have met 9 or 10. As we passed Reedham I took a photo of Sanderson's boatyard (I'll add photos when I'm back on WiFi). Is this their last season? Shortly after the New Cut the helmsman on Silver Cloud coming in the opposite direction photographed us and smiled. Are you a forum member Mr Silver Cloud owner aboard this week? It was a little early in the day to head direct for Oulton, so we made a stop at WRC instead. We made use of their "onshore facilities" as Cian calls it. Later we had a short mini cruise further up the Waveney and then turned around and headed for OBYS. Not needing electric, we had the entire quayside nearest the harbour master's office to ourselves. Dinner was carvery at the Wherry which was very good value albeit the drinks were priced on the high side. Some late night adjustment of the ropes was called for as even though I'd allowed slack in the ropes it turned out not to be enough and the stern was caught on the quay. Maybe the pontoon side would have been the better option.
I noticed the broom skipper called sandhawk is still for sale on topsail

Sure it is possible. We have been through in larger boats in the past.
What's the air draft on an Alpha 29/31? We have been through in a couple of those in the past. (Admittedly not in the last few years as we have either been on our own boat or hired larger dual steer or centre cockpit boats instead)
Boatyards say alpha 29s are 6ft 10 in, not sure if its accurate but i would say there about

There are loads of Broads/ Broads type boats on the Fens including this Starlight which joined me in a lock in 2019. Must have spotted at least 8 Sancerres in May this year. 1 or 2 wind boats similar to Merrywind also I see 1 for sale. Plenty of Sheer lines of various sizes aft and centre steer. Hordes of very nice Ocean 30 aft or centre steer, Hampton Safari mk 2 and 3. Classic cruisers of Thorpe. A Caribbean or two. Westward 38. Aquafibre 32 dual steer ex Woods originally Colin Facey. A Coral Emblem from Ernest Collins plus other similar ex Moore's boats. I was also surprised to see an Alpha 35 centre cockpit outside Wicken Fen nature reserve on Reach lode and an Horizon 35 round the corner. Plenty of others however I will be here all night.
Neil
Yeah i have seen loads of safaris and ocean 30s about and a few broom skippers too, there is also a dc30

Hi everyone,
I just wondered if anyone had any experience of either Astral Light or Caribbean light from Herbert Woods?
They look similar, just a very slightly different layout and the description says Caribbean has a bow thruster, but Astral doesn't, have I missed anything else?
Thanks
David
I dont have any experience with astral light or carribean light but i did notice astral light is slightly more expensive so it may have a more recent refit

Pubs
in Broads Chat
Sounds good value for money

You can try the Staithe or lock end. Lock is usally quiet but idk if you can turn 42ft boat there there's also outside the pubs. Staithe and outside the pubs can get busy so if you want to moor there then get in there quick

Welcome to the forum salamar what type of boats is it and we like pics if you have some.
