  1. At a guess, it’s the dashboard gauge illumination 😬
  2. Hi Kate, we were out before the freeze, and on return moored on the ponderosa to have a little job done in the gas locker for BSS inspection and got frozen in! have a lovely Christmas and hope to see you out again soon. Xx
  3. ‘Twas the night before Christmas and we were afloat, Enjoying hot chocolate onboard the boat. The crisp winter morning and lights on the tree, Made everything seem so very Christmassy. Buddy was tucked up snug in his dog bed, Dreaming of walkies and being well fed. Grandad was having a sneaky snooze too, Whilst the rest of us enjoyed the breathtaking view. We saw a beautiful kingfisher perched in a tree, Then suddenly we all shouted out in glee. Out of the corner of our eyes what did appear? One of father Christmas’s Chinese water rein-deer. We had our lunch onboard as swans swam by, Sausage rolls, sandwiches and a crumble mince pie. After enjoying all these christmassy yummies, We took a short stroll to help our full tummies. On our cruise back we all had to agree, There was no other place we would rather be. Than on the beautiful broads on the Sally Marie, Enjoying happy times with lovely family. Wishing everyone a merry Christmas.

  6. Cruising along the Norfolk Broads, On the beautiful Sally Marie. The sweet sound of the birds in the sky, And breathtaking views to see. We travelled from Stalham to Acle, Enjoying our delightful cruise, We saw ducks, swans and an otter, Such amazing, wonderful views. On Sunday for something different, We headed to the city of Norwich, My husband was in charge of the wheel, Whilst I cooked breakfast, a croissant and porridge. The cathedral in Norwich looked stunning, The grand spire proudly towered in the sky, As the sun slowly set and the night drew in, The alluring hoot of owls passed by. Monday we moored at Hardley Cross, And took a relaxing walk together. Unfortunately the footpath was closed, So the walk went on forever and ever. The hike may have been long and tiring, But was actually amazingly pleasant. We saw partridges, snakes and a deer, and a radiant, colourful pheasant. On Wednesday we had guests in Beccles, My parents, their dog and our son. We took our boat of visitors On a voyage to gorgeous Geldeston. The trip was wonderfully peaceful, So relaxing enjoying the view. A kingfisher glided across the water, A flash of vibrant, electric blue. We had fish and chips for supper. Then my family got ready to go. We watched the beautiful sunset, The comforting fire red glow. On Wednesday we steamed downstream, To the picturesque Berney mill. The water was glowing, the sun shining bright, The day was incredibly still. Feeling content we went for a walk, Across the green stretching marshes of Berney. My calm little mood soon turned to panic, When a herd of cows hurtled towards me. I don’t think I’ve ever run so fast, My screams could be heard for a mile. My heart pounded fast, my legs turned to jelly As I quickly lunged myself over a style. Our Friday adventures took us over Breydon We moored at Boundry farm. We saw cormorants, herons and swans, The water was sublime and calm. Saturday we headed back to Stalham, Time to go home to see our son and our daughter. We said goodbye to the Sally Marie, Feeling refreshingly relaxed from our trip on the water. }
  7. It was a very exciting day, For my husband and for me. We were finally ready to set sail, On the beautiful Sally Marie. The weather was glorious with a gentle breeze, The sun was shining bright. The birds were singing, ducks were quacking, Everything was just right. The reeds at the edge of the water waved, As the Sally Marie proudly went to by, Welcomed by the Norfolk Broads, She held her head up high. Whilst the elegnt boat was enjoying her trip, I was ecstatic too, Taking in the beautiful wildlife, And the the breathtaking picturesque view. There’s something calming about the Norfolk Broads, So peaceful and sublime My worries slowly disappeared, I had such a relaxing time. We moored for the evening, And cooked our first dinner. Lasagne and garlic bread, Definitely a winner! We went for a stroll As the sun began to set. Such a wonderful evening, One we’ll never forget. I smiled at my husband, And we both had to agree. We can’t wait for many more adventures, On the Sally Marie!
  8. Thank you everyone for the lovely welcome. I look forward to reading more of everyone’s Broads tales and sharing some of my own.😊
  9. I am new here and thought I would say hello. I have really enjoyed reading everyone’s posts and tales of the Broads. I have always loved the Norfolk Broads, they are place I can relax and forget about the world. I spent several holidays on the Broads as a child and spent a fantastic week in 2013 with my husband and children. We are lucky enough to live quite near to The Broads so we have the opportunity to explore and enjoy all the beauty and wildlife. I had the most amazing surprise last year when my husband took me to look at a boat in Stalahm and on the spur of the moment we decided to buy her. She has been renamed the Sally Marie (after me🙂). I can not wait for our many adventures. My husband is currently working away on a much bigger boat and due to the pandemic we are not sure when he will be able to return home, but we have the thought of our lovely boat and trips on the Broads to keep us going. I love to write and long for those relaxing days on board the Sally Marie with my notepad and pen scribbling down all my thoughts and ideas. Completely out of the blue one day, My husband said to me, “Come for a drive to Stalahm, I have something for you to see,” You can imagine my surprise, At the most wonderful sight, A beautiful little cruiser, Shining in the sunlight. My husband smiled as he told me, “this boat’s for you and me, To share many new adventures, We will rename her the Sally Marie.” I got quite excited, To have a boat named after me, Now I can not wait To cruise on the Sally Marie.
