  1. 3rd photo - White Horse Neatishead.
  2. Could it have been The Eagle at Neatishead, though it wasn't a river as such I believe the garden backed onto the top end of Like Kiln Dyke, if memory serves me right.
  3. Why on earth would she want to visit Wroxham?
  4. I suspect a phone call to Cox's would probably settle the weight discussion, I'm sure their boat lift gave them the weight they were lifting.

  7. This shortage was planned, some weeks ago one of the supermarkets said that rather than have a load that is heavy for it's volume, they would rather load up the lorries with lighter more essential items, therefore getting more on the lorry. Personally I think buying bottled water a total waste of money, and plastic!
  8. If they have a refund on their bottles, just like lemonade bottles in the old days , they would get most of them back. The trouble is, that unless you have the original purchase paperwork they will not refund. How many people keeper that paperwork? Not that many.
  9. Massinghams is closed permanently.
  10. https://www.broadlandmemories.co.uk/blog/2012/05/fish-and-chip-a-float/ I believe Tom Percival was involved with this.
  11. You could try Hunters boatyard at Ludham.
  12. I think there are still plenty of people who could stand those sort of hours, but when they see their earnings disappear in increasingly higher rents from the greedy pubcos, that's what deters them.
  13. If you don't see a hygiene rating at a food outlet, beware, it probably means it is low and they are too ashamed to display it. If Norada is a 4 rating then he will have been given the official sign to display, so display it.

    Happy wet friday!
  15. I see according to the EDP and Network Rail there are delays on trains due to a boat hitting a bridge between Salhouse and Brundall, they must mean one of the Thorpe Island bridges.

Nothing here in broadland, so the EDP website just should pictures of flooded roads from the past.
  17. In 1969 there were some 22 hirefleet yards in Wroxham/Hoveton, all offering mooring, water and fuel. Now there are 2. All those moorings are now private properties. The same applies to all the other Broadland towns and villages.
  18. As you suggested earlier. Some people seem to think it a stigma to been seen turning the boat by ropes.
  19. http://www.norfolkpubs.co.uk Try this site, shows an Edward Goffin as landlord back in the mid 19th century.
  20. Guess what, refusal, flood risk. James Knight tried to argue for it, but the vote was 9-2 against.
  21. Don't get too excited, recommendation is refusal.
  22. You hear it all the time, in the pub, can I get a pint of bitter, if I was the barperson I would reply, 'no, I get the pint, you pay for it'.
  23. What do you mean by bringing up to today's standards, rip the guts out of it and ruin it? It needs a large extension being built out the back to increase the covers for eating. As it is at the moment you could not afford a half decent chef with the number of covers. Unfortunately the pub was leased out to Tipples brewery, but things didn't work out very well. Then covid struck and Terry has decided to sell th Bell and concentrate on his pub in Lingwood. A community pub would be a good idea, it is an Asset of Community Value, as long as Salhouse parish council aren't involved, but that's another story.
  24. Do wear long trousers, can get a bit overgrown this time of year, nettles, brambles, etc.
