  1. Hi all Where would you recommend to eat on the Northern side of the Broads? We enjoyed the Rising Sun at Coltishall but interested to see where you would recommend. kind regards Jez
  2. Babemore looks like a slightly longer version of Nipper. Great to see these old photos.
  3. Top job done, I have a way to go to get to these expert standards. I’ll keep an eye out for her on the river, she will be easy to spot as definitely an outstanding craft. kind regards
  4. I have never done anything like this before, I have enjoyed the time working on her and just in this short time learn't many things. Was a little apprehensive at the start but have met several interesting people at the boat yard all sharing good advise. Sadly a very interesting and knowledgeable gentleman from the boat yard (Gorden Curtis) is no longer with us. I throughly recommend Martham Boats for your winter storage.
  5. Update on Nipper, Having spent many hours at the boat yard in recent weeks with Nipper building up those coats she is coming on nicely . I'm looking forward to having her back in the water early June all being well and have accepted an invitation to attend The Beccles Wooden Broads Cruiser Show in August with her.
  6. So sorry to read this morning that a boat has been stolen and feel so sorry for the owners, I hope it is okay to post on here as just trying to help them recover her. The details I have are, It was stolen sometime from the 28 th Dec… It was tied up in Loddon, Norwich,Norfolk. There have been reports it’s was seen in the reeds near Cantley on the factory side. I don't know any other details but thought it may help by posting on here. Also may highlight the risk of theft. The listing was on a Facebook page but should anyone have any information I guess you should inform the police. Regards Jeremy
  7. Thanks Doug I'll take a look when I back in the shed over the weekend. Regards
  8. Happy New Year to you all, I would like to freshen up the bilge (a little flaking and general wear). Currently the bilge is painted with Danboline red bilge paint which has been discontinued, Danboline is now only available in grey or white which I don't particularly like. I would like to keep it the red and wonder what product you would recommend. I have read lots of different feeds and some say garage floor paint but I'm not so sure and don't want to cause any further issues. I have found that Teamac produce a red bilge paint, has any one used this. Would there be any problems in applying over the Danboline so maybe a primer first? Any advise on this subject very welcome. Kind regards Jeremy
  9. Sadly not afloat till the spring but wishing you both a Happy New Year. Jeremy
  10. We will do what we can to give her a good home.
  11. Hi All, having now got Nipper safely into the winter shed at Martham Boats, I'm now beginning to prepare her for the few months ahead. So far I have removed all soft furnishings and storing at home, lifted removable floors to ensure adequate ventilation. Today I vacuumed the bilge with a wet vac to remove all remaining water and vacuumed t any standing water in the hot and cold water pipes. I have brought home the fenders removed the ropes ready to go in the washing machine as advised, my question is do any of you have any good tips on what to clean the fenders with. Soapy water hasn't really worked and before I damage them using something abrasive thought I would ask to see what you use. Many thanks for any advise Jez
  12. thank you all for your welcoming comments, we are planning to use her as much as we can over the next few weeks, I have already contacted Martham Boat yard regarding booking her in for the winter month in the 'DIY shed'. I currently operate a plumbing and heating business so quite practical and hope that in time will learn correct methods and techniques of how to look after these craft. During this week we cleaned her throughout even lifted carpet and a few of the loose boards to wipe the bilge down. There was about an inch of water in the bilge so I vacuumed it all out, a few days later I looked under the floor again and there was some water back in the bilge, is this normal for a wooden boat or will one of the first jobs in the winter re-calking/ checking the planks and re-antifouling. I not afraid hard work just of making sure I do it correctly. Regards Jez
  13. Hi there all, Maria and I have just become the new custodians for 'Nipper', sadly during the last year she has been a little neglected having spent last winter in the water facing the elements of the winter. Although limited knowledge of how to look after wooden boats we want to give Nipper a loving new home and ensure she is repaired and returned to the high standard she was in just 12 months ago. I am fortunate that I have been passed the details of the previous owners at look forward to meeting them.(owners pre 2021) We were hoping to be on the River this weekend but unfortunately managed to catch Covid so scuppered that plan. At least we managed to spend a bit of time giving her a good clean during this past week. I have found this forum to be very helpful and full of useful tips. Many thanks for accepting our membership and hoping to share our new journey with you. Regards Jeremy and Maria
