  1. Yes, big thumbs up from me for Bridgecraft, excellent yard, they really look after you. Enjoy and let us know how you get on!
  2. Hi Dave Can't say for sure but last year's brochure listed it as 240v - I can't imagine they would take the inverter out. Herby Woods usually seem to fit 1400w inverters.
  3. I think you would be very lucky. However I think Herby Woods will offer a discount on a day boat if you are hiring from them. Might be worth a thought, well worth getting up there.
  4. Still are JF, particularly the Sussex ones Yes, the Wood Farm was good, very popular and had something for everyone. Shame it went.
  5. Yep, remember it well. We hired Falcon from Easticks at Acle. It was certainly thirsty work in the heat. All Watneys then I seem to remember so the likes of Wood Farm, Sutton Staithe and the Locks were a welcome oasis!
  6. We like piccies and updates! Have a good one
  7. Is this the Sea Scouts boat? Urgent Boating News – Vessel ‘Lord Nelson’ will be moved under tow from Norwich down the River Yare to Breydon on Sunday 24 June between 03:00 hrs and 10:00 hrs. Vessels must keep clear and follow instruction given by Broads Authority Rangers
  8. Assume there would be a 'capital' cost though Griff?? ie one off payment for a share of the boat?
  9. Not Broads related but one for Grace possibly? We've devised some racks for Mrs Nog's shoes (and even some spare for future acquisitions)
  10. Even if the Locks moorings appear full it's worth venturing down as there is often space at the end. There is also a section of grassed bank before the moorings start which could be used at a pinch. Pleasant walk from the Locks to the Wherry if you don't want to moor at Geldeston Dyke as well. Best of both worlds!
  11. Well they've had 95 entries apparently! https://mailchi.mp/3231d2c737d9/broads-briefing-june
  12. Moored there in May, only us apart from the Big Dog Ferry. I honestly think with that air draft you should get through without too much problem unless river levels are unusually high. From memory even at high tide you should 6 6 to 6 8. If necessary just moor up at the lido for a short while. Locks and the Wherry are both superb IMHO and we'll worth the effort. Forgot to say lido is a pontoon so easy mooring.
  13. There's quite a range of tide at Beccles, with that air draft you should be OK but as been said avoid around high water, even if it means a short wait. Booking moorings, pretty sure the Bell don't. I'm pushed to think of anywhere on the Southern rivers although I think Beccles and Oulton Broad Yacht stations may do? Having said that mooring is not so much a problem on the Southern rivers.
  14. Ooo, errr, thinking cap back on........
  15. Presumably if its a non tidal river, it must be above a Lock???? Could Vaughan be on the money??
  16. It doesn't look like any of the navigable bits, I'm wondering if its one of the 'hidden' broads. looks too big for Cockshoot, could it be Hoveton Great Broad????
  17. This is it. It says Mardi Gras "Horning" It never seemed to move or be cleaned or used. Such a shame. I wonder what the story is/was behind it. I assume it must have been tolled? I dream of owning my own boat and its such a shame to see them un-loved and un-used.
  18. Thanks for the very helpful advice, Matt, Sue and JF - much appreciated I was particularly interested in how the spare weeks system operates
  19. .......one thing that puzzles me is that if weeks are 'unclaimed' say in November or January for example, can another shareholder take them over and if so is it a freebie or do they have to compensate the 'winning' shareholder for taking their week??
  20. Matt, many thanks for that, the fixed weeks idea is more tempting certainly, we tend to go more mid December although the June week would be perfect. The air draft could be an issue unfortunately, particularly in winter, my 'ideal' boat would be a smaller Alpha hull, when the lottery comes up I'd probably go for a Swan Reflection style. Another factor is that we don't drive so need some certainty to book train tickets in advance. I have however had a PM from a kindly member which is much appreciated
  21. I appreciate that JF but they are not obloiged to swap and I bet if someone got December in the draw and refused to swap I'd be up the creek. We could ideally do with a syndicate with someone who had kids and was tied to school holidays which is the times I wouldn't want to go!!
  22. It's all very tempting but I just wish syndicates didn't have to do the draw system. I'd go for it like a shot if fixed weeks were available.
  23. This could be the answer Not too sure what Carol would say though

Interesting thread, yes, the big yards give more choice and can be competitive price wise. For me though, the main drawback is that they are not very flexible, for example hiring out of season. Why would they want to? I think that this is one of the many reasons that Swancraft and Bridgecraft, do, and did, provide such an excellent service. Personal opinion of course ,
  25. Ha, ha thanks JF - ah, shrewd move to do the same pub twice but, 6 - 0 to the Nogs I think Hope you have a great holiday for the rest of it and look forward to more tales and piccies and input from the lovely Sussex Belle too!
