  1. EDP today https://www.edp24.co.uk/news/24078114.broads-authority-say-no-conspiracy-toll-fee-increases/
  2. Couldn't agree more Very fair point
  3. We moored up to empty moorings, the guy was out like a rat out of a trap, gave us a load of verbal, we never got a word in edgeways, he shouldn't be in the hospitality industry IMHO
  4. Good intersting posts When we turned up the moorings were empty. This guy has/or had attitude, maybe need to be a gin palace or a brand new boat. Agree with Malcolm, Ferry House, what's not to like.
  5. Yep! Exactly the same! I got the impression he didn't like hire boats, maybe he just liked customers to arrive in a Merc or BMW!!!
  6. I seem to be getting a lot of emails from Hoseasons with various offers at the moment, almost every day. I wonder if bookings are a bit slow? I always book direct with Bridgecraft (as I did with Swancraft) so never really have any dealings with them. Just wondered.
  7. Good news about the Waters Edge The only pub I've ever been thrown out from before I even got in!!
  8. "Use it or lose it" Indeed Good to see a pub reopening https://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/news/24055862.ram-inn-brundall-reopens-former-managers/?ref=rss
  9. Springs every time for me. I tend to use them most of the time anyway, for the little extra time it takes it's well worth it IMHO. Keeps you snug overnight if the wind gets up and you don't have to worry about adjusting for the tide.
  10. Three weeks estimate now to carry out works but not including the return trip I assume https://www.edp24.co.uk/news/24050611.reedham-ferry-arrives-excelsior-slipways-boat-yard/?ref=rss&s=09
  11. Assuming you crossed the Stokesby to Acle Road (which I guess you did) looks a good walk, maybe 5 miles at a guess. Shame the pub is shut!!
  12. Sorry to hear that Kate, sounds a bit more complicated. I wonder if one of the boatyards might look at it if you don't have any luck yourself. Sutton Staithe always seem to get good press on here but maybe other owners could advise better. Hope you get sorted soon
  13. Sorry to hear about your heating. We rely totally on the boat heating in winter and, touch wood, never have a problem. It starts every morning without running the engine and pretty much runs all day if we need it. Not sure which type of heater Bridgecraft use. I think the batteries need to be well topped up though, even if they're in good condition. If the voltage drops below a certain level the heating wont work. We do a lot of mileage in winter, we go down South and often cruise for 4 or 5 hours a day. I'm not a technical expert and there are many on here with much more knowledge than me but I just wonder if it might simply be the batteries running a bit low. Could be wrong, i usually am!
  14. The works are expected to take five to six weeks According to the EDP...........
  15. Thanks for the pub info, we are back in February so need to look out for those, normally two must visits.
  16. It's natural to want to keep the water topped up and it makes good sense. However it is suprising how little you actually use. I suspect some hirers maybe treat it as an Infinite resource and hence the standard advice given is to top up daily. However if you bear in mind it comes from a tank it's suprising how careful you become. For example Mrs Nog has long hair but when showering she turns off the water when applying shampoo then turns it on again to rinse. We were out in December 2022 when there was a lot of ice about. We intended to top up at Reedham but found the taps turned off. As we hadn't filled up for 2 or 3 days I was becoming concerned and a very kind Forum member even offered to bring some water to us which was much appreciated. However we were able to fill up at Swancraft and I was amazed at how little water was needed to fill the tank. So I would say, don't be put off Simon. December, in my humble opinion, is by far the best time to be out, you really do have the rivers to yourself, it's a magical time.
  17. Indeed! reminds me a bit of the Woods End conversion, certainly looks a lot brighter. I'll have a walk down there if I can drag myself away from the Norfolk Nog This is from a few years ago, you can tell the difference
  18. That's pretty much as I remember it. Be interesting to see what its like now.
  19. Not been in for a while but from memory there was a stone flagged bar area at the front as you went in and the lounge area was to the right hand side and extended through to the back. The bar was L shaped, so the front bit served the bar and the side bit the lounge. There used to be a good sized garden at the rear. We're back in February so I'll try to make a point of having a look.
  20. It is pretty much housing and the school. The bus comes round there along Norwich Road, then up Thieves Lane, back to the Stag and onwards to Wroxham. Must have a look in the Stag, John mentioned it too.
  21. Apperently there is a sunken vessel at the Berney Arms, be careful if you go that way Helen!
  22. We used to rely on Reedham as although the hoses were removed the taps were left on. But last couple of years it's been cut off completely. The water is on the pontoon at Oulton Broad but you need to borrow a portable hose reel. Goodchilds used to have water on their pontoon, not sure if they still do. We usually moor at Swancraft so top up there but you would need to give Paul a bell ideally. If you are careful with water it's amazing how long a tank lasts though.
  23. Slack on Thursday is 10.14 so you would need to be off early although you'd probably be OK a bit later. The weather has abated here in flat hat land so it should be OK. The levels were high in December but we had plenty of room under the bridges. Good luck!
  24. Tides look good from Wednesday onwards although you would probably have to come back Saturday or Sunday to avoid nav lights. I would have thought you'd be OK under the bridges. Hopefully no high winds either, you should be fine. Go for it!
