  1. Perhaps they are not as deep as they used to be?
  2. With reference to the third post, why blame the Mayor of London? As I understand it he is only following government policy and we are likely to see these zones spread far and wide in the future.
  3. I suspect that Richardsons boats are all recorded in BA records as being Registered Keeper ...Richardsons. Other boat owners exist on the Broads hiring to customers. If many hirers refused to pay and and the boat hire operators were lumbered with having to pay up and then recover the mooring fee, and their costs from the hirers, the BA would soon be told where they can go. It seems to me this would quickly become unworkable. Reputational damage for the BA just gets worse and worse.
  4. With reference to the post by oldgregg 3 hours ago I do not understand the reference to the Broads being a National Park, as it is not a NP. The use of the term National Park is for marketing purposes only and this may be by the Broads Authority although others also seem to use it. Happy to be corrected if the legal position has been changed.
  5. Not so good coming back up! Bet a lot of youngsters would not cope LOL !
  6. Looks like an accident waiting to happen!
  7. Sadly, when something like BRAG is seen to be attracting suport against the official line, it attracts the attention of individuals who are actually 'the enemy within'. I have experienced this myself in an earlier life and it is interesting when one starts digging what you can expose. All I will say is, take care.
  8. For 135 metres of mooring to suddenly need work or replacing is beyond belief. Just what is ging on? The Neatishead job has, I believe, overun. It looks like someone has taken their eye off the ball and JP needs to get a grip or let someone that can do the job takeover.
  9. We have a Shoreline fridge on our boat sourced via Sonny Boulter. Not sure what size but they do a range. Have been very satisfied with it, bought it I think in 2018 and never had a problem.
  10. I can remember when Neatishead staithe was a grass bank, certainly the left side, as you go in. I left a rhond hook behind and by the time I realised and turned around to recover it, it had gone. It looked much nicer in those days and I doubt there was much need for the expensive works being carried out now.
  11. I notice you use a slow cooker, a great idea. Do you power it off electric hookup or your boats batteries?
  12. HIi kpnut, the solar powered tv comes with its own solar panel with a long wire, it plugs into a socket on the back of the TV. I just feed the wire into the boat, plug into the socket and it starts charging. A light on the side of the TV flashes when it is charging and shows solid when the battery is full. Very simple to use.
  13. We have a Cello 22 inch solar powered TV on a Ballade aerial (12v power supply required). The TV has a solar panel that sits on the roof of the boat to charge the TV. It can also be used on the mains or the boat leisure batteries without the solar panel, but we let the panel charge the TV internal battery ready for the next use. It saves the TV from draining the boat batteries if used too much. We have had it now for a couple of years and are very pleased with it. Bought it direct from Cello with excellent service.

    Roadworks 2023

As there are two diversions in place for the Hoveton works, depending on where you are going, whoever is responsible for putting out the signs must be hoping people know where they want to end up. Ok for locals but not for strangers to the area, could cause some interesting problems at the mini roundabouts.
  15. In the current situation the country finds itself, 13% across the board on toll charges does not seem to be out of line with other increases. Food inflation 14%+, my electricity unit charge up between 9% & 10% from 1 January on top of previous rises and another increase due 1 April. It is about what I was expecting and could have been worse. What does concern me is what cuts the BA will have to make if, as I expect, 13% is not enough bearing in mind the increase has to cover costs round to March 2024. 2024 / 5 might be interesting.

    Roadworks 2023

When these pavement works in Hoveton have been completed perhaps the local residents should be told that they are allowed to drive over the pavement to access their driveways, but not along it to access the road or to park on it. That should save council tax payers a lot of money in the future.
  17. I read somewhere that Norwich City Council is going to install charging points in I think 40 residential city streets. Many of the streets will have households that cannot afford an EV. This means the residents will lose desperately needed parking spaces as petrol / diesel cars will not be able to use them. I can see trouble brewing!
  18. Could not agree more, but re. the moorings, there was an opportunity for the BA but I suppose they would have wanted to install fancy quay heading rater than natural grass bank that most of us would probably prefer. Now it is just a wasted resource.
  19. Anyone remember the WOOD FARM INN now the site of the Wayford Bridge Hotel at Wayford Bridge. Very old pub with a good atmosphere but now unrecognisable. Wayford Bridge Hotel lacks the atmosphere but having recovered form the Marco Pierre White days, provides good food and drink at reasonable prices. It is a shame that the moorings on the opposite bank of the Ant can no longer be used, they were always very popular but now sadly lost.
  20. Maids Head in Stalham. Best pub in the town, sadly gone.
  21. If memory serves me well the Eagle had bank notes from all over the world pasted to the ceiling. Got a shock one year when it was no more, shame.
  22. You might need to keep your eyes on some of the legislation coming through if you are worried about our right of access or indeed our freedom.
  23. I'm standing up for the boat, how many of us have taken a look in the mirror recently and realised how we go into decline as the years pass by?
  24. I am thinking of buying a Wildlife Trail Camera for use when out and about on the Broads. Do any members own or have any knowledge or thoughts about these cameras that they can share / recommend. Thanks
  25. About 75 / 100 metres upstream from Neves Mill? Lovely spot to watch the world go by.
