  1. Check plumbing! Mine was fairly cool and short of water, turned out a previous owner had piped the cold water to the top of the calorifier and the hot to the bottom of the calorifier, quick pipe switch and lashings of hot water on tap.
  2. Not broads but if you like a riverside campsite have a search for the eynesbury camping and caravan site at the coneygere, it's on the gt.ouse in a fairly civilised town with a good riverside park(campsite is on the river too), it's my local river and I can tell you where the cheapest pub is. I've heard good reports about it from others that have to travel to get there(takes me 5 mins on a pushbike).
  3. As long as the rest of the system is up to it it's cheap enough to replace the prv on the calorifier to cope with the extra pressure.
  4. Yes the power is still there, if it's essential and goes off talk to Bob in the saily boat in the cut to get it sorted as he usually has access to the breakers.
  5. Have you tried Andy at freedom boating holidays?
  6. Oh no you didn't, you may have seen my old boat but you didn't see me. So ner!
  7. Mine will do that too, it's a volvo thing apparently, if it's TMD/TAMD of similar get your gas mask out on a cold start. Great for keeping the raggies away though.....
  8. Can I have a fully full glass please and don't even think of knocking it over. Unfortunately it's all too often the case now that if you build it they WILL come, but they will moor outside and eat their own food and drink their own beer on the boat, but they WILL expect to use your loo.(and probably nick the bog roll) Cynical git aint I.
  9. Is neatishead realy a similar story? It had a massive cash injection for the work and although without a doubt doing well as a pub will it ever make back the amount spent on it to make it a successful investment? Not many people can lay out that much cash without the view to getting a good return from it.
  10. They do, it's called a labotomy! Less than a minute for 2 "like" notifications, I must be on to something....
  11. I was considering just turning the tanks over so the sludge and crud is at the top well away from the pickup pipe. I have a couple of small cloth bags that I am going to attach to a string and chuck in through the access holes full of magnets to catch any rust moving about as well.
  12. John, been up this weekend and cut a 2" access hole in each tank on the face (near the top!!) opposite end to the drain/fuel take off, pumped out through a 1 micron filter so I could replace the small drain fitting with a ball valve an hose tail, pumped a load through the same filter for a while, will go next weekend now fittings are in place and set up my transfer pump and filter and give it some bouncy runs over breydon while the pump runs, then swap to other side and do it again, hopefully this will shift most of the crud. Too well baffled to get the pressure washer in.
  13. Every qualified welder I've ever met was a member of the public.
  14. When do you buy your first boat then????? It's all downhill from there.
  15. I've had a reply when I've called them this year, at least reedham, not been past somerleyton yet.
  16. Been dosed with marine 16 but it's the sludge thats the problem not the bug, filler has a 90 degree welded bend on the tank so too sharp to get a pipe in, pela pump won't do much on a 325 litre tank. I think I'm going to put a holesaw through and make a new cover and pressure wash through the hole (with diesel not water) and pump out through the drain valve, just need to find 150 litres worth of fuel storage....
  17. I need my tanks flushing out to clear the dreaded bug sludge, access panel a git to get at without removing tanks, to remove tanks needs engines out and it's not going to happen. Any recomendations for a mobile service?
  18. I'm trying to get a good idea of what I should get out of my princess 30ds as full speed and cruising speed so would like to know what engines setups others have and what they do, I can't go just by a thrash across breydon as I have an add on barkeel that causes me drag and I want work out if I should take it off or not as I will rarely get any benefit from it, it's only for drying harbours.(also have the beaching legs to go with it) I have 2x TMD41a's @ 150hp each on shafts and seemed to average 18-19knots at full throttle @3900rpm, what do others get? I know what sales ads say buy they are likely to be a bit elastic with the figures.
  19. Felt like sleet at surlingham this morning after a very noisy night, some good lumps on breydon yesterday at 16knots made it fun.
  20. Looks like my planned shakedown sea trip maybe a 5 times across breydon flat out shakedown trip.
  21. Yeah innit! Just like wot E said.
  22. Must have used a very old chart! They have taken the 'Here be dragons' bit too seriously!
  23. I've just been talking to breydon bridge about haven clearance for easter weekend, they recon 2.6m headroom at HW on a 2.4m tide with 1.7m range, so using the rule of 12th's you should get 11' under from 3 hours after HW to 3 hours before HW, ok there's 2 draining rivers so the 12th's rule doesn't fully work as it does on open water so add 1/2 hour for a bit of extra safety, tides can easily be 1/2 hour late or early with the weather and the predicted height can be screwed up by weather too so that can mess you up as well. I hope to get snowbird under an hour after HW with radar arch down with a bit of room to spare for a good play and shakedown run on the saturday of easter weekend if the weather is good, and if nothing falls do it again on the sunday. If you have easter plans don't forget bst will throw sat and sun times an hour apart.
