  1. Tha chatroom looks to be in fine order now Arthur. Sincere thanks for getting it back up and running.
  2. We only just made it with ours the Monday before the really cold stuff arrived. I hope nothing is damaged as a result of this. In my view it is always best to flush with anti-freeze, even though we have tube heaters on a thermostat as well.
  3. Like TH, my zoom gives me video but no sound. Also, we don't have the bandwidth in deepest darkest SE Kent for both Nik and myself to be on Zoom at the same time.
  4. No luck for me either on Chrome. Was able to get in via Brave with the Duck-duck go. You need to go into "Advanced" and then select "proceed to site" Google seems to have become very picky about lapsed certificates of late.
  5. Yes, I remember it often being hours rather than minutes or seconds.
  6. That was the one. Can't recall the exact spec now but that's just how I remember the machine looking. We used a utility called Lap-Link to get the data out of it onto a desktop pc where we could analyse and plot it using Lotus 123 and, dare I recall, WYSIWYG. Agree that the Toshiba machines were brilliant. I do wish I'd hung on to my old tech. A work colleague of mine in the USA saved his old kit, going right back to the Timex/Sinclair ZX81, and had turned his office into a museum. A visit there brought back a lot of memories.
  7. That old Toshiba brings back memories. I used to have one very much like it at work, which I used mainly for data logging from thermocouples and humidity probes. I loved the little nipple in the middle of the keyboard which moved the cursor. It replaced an early Amstrad portable computer which was like a suitcase with a flip-up screen, bur which "died" due to design and build quality issues.
  8. Love the dashboard Grendel and was particularly tickled to see that the various gauges puport to come from Smiths Industries - my old employer. Sadly, Smiths haven't made gauges for many, many years but it is a very nice touch and the overall is very informative.
  9. All considerably less than we pay in Norfolk. I wonder how the yards justify the "Broads premium"?
  10. Lovely account Jean, thanks for sharing. We are up tomorrow for a couple of days, mainly to finish off the winterising of Windmill Lady, but hopefully there will be a chance to enjoy the Broads too.
  11. I have switched over to an electric chainsaw. Mainly because I was having repeated starting problems with my infrequently used petrol one. I am now thinking about going down the battery route for my lawnmower. Whatever the engine manufacturers say, it doesn't seem to like E5 petrol and I can't afford to spend an hour each time I use it draining the petrol, cleaning the carb, reassembling and refilling.
  12. I was suckered into buying an aluminium roasting tray from a certain emporium of overpriced tat. On Christmas morning I realised that the label was stuck to the bottom inside of the tray, with the PRC's finest military grade glue. Not fancying using the tray with the lable in situ, with its no-doubt toxic chemical and heavy metal content, I tried to peel it off. Half an hour later I lost the will to live and ended up lining the tray with turkey foil, which kinda defeats the object. Now it's back to the good old fashioned roasting tray with foil lining to keep the amount of washing up down to a minimum.
  13. We have a Maxxview ariel 9 element aerial that sits on top of a 4ft pole which is in turn fitted to our cabin-top grab rail. Never had a problem on the broads.
  14. They don't even give a price for their Sunday roast. Presumably your bank manager has to engage in direct negotiation with theirs.
  15. We paid to moor at Brooms yard at Brundal. Mooring for 2 nights, which included unlimited access to free hot showers. 50p a night. Mind you, it was 1991. How things have improved since then!
  16. We have been trying all week to get up to Norfolk to start the winterisation of Windmill Lady. I look at google Maps, see a 4 hour plus journey time and say "nah". Protestors apart, these incidents highlight how vulnerable our critical national infrastructure is. These are protestors - misguided and highly irriatating but probably well-meaning; next time it might be terrorist saboteurs.
  17. And there was me thinking it was just an elaborate strategy to avoid winning.
  18. Mike won the quiz this week with 12 points. Kate and Grendel were in joint second with 8, so Mike will be our QM next week.
  19. Just a reminder that normal service will be resumed this evening. All are welcome to join us at 8.30-ish in NBN chat. https://www.nbnplus.co.uk/chat/ Enter your username. No password needed.
  20. Had our jabs around 3 weeks apart. The Covid jab - Moderna - floored me for a day and a half but with the flu jab I just felt slightly under the weather for the afternoon. Regardless of the side effects, I don't fancy either flu or covid, so I am happy to get vaccinated whenever a jab is on offer.
  21. Very sorry to hear about your loss Kate. Our condolences to you and your family. Steve and Nikki
  22. For me, it is the day I winterise Windmill Lady. Draining down and dismantling the domestic water system, is the saddest part because that's the last part of the process and once that's done I know that I won't be back on board until late February/early March.
  23. I thought that Saturday's programme was an odd one. Trying to theme the dances to fit in with the BBC's 100th anniversary was a bit like fitting round pegs into square holes with some of them being performed to highly inappropriate music. I have a bee in my bonnet at the best of times with dances like the Argentine tango and paso doble being accompanied by "I fought the law and the law won" or similar nonsense - but Saturday's show took the biscuit in this respect. On the question of judges. I agree that Craig should be kept and Anton also provides informed feedback. However, I struggle to see what the 2 females contribute beyond noise.
  24. Unfortunately we didn't quite have sufficient people to run the quiz this evening, so have rescheduled for Friday 4th November. I can't do next week as will have my daughter's family staying.
