Oh dear, once again I find myself asking you all for advice.
I wish to acquire a pan. It will be very heavy cast iron, square or rectangular, and have a folding handle. I would like it to have those ridges to keep the food out of the oil. Its the sort of thing that people cook steaks on.
No sign of anything like it in Roy's and Amazon showed something similar which I bought, but it was so "lightweight " it could have been pressed alloy.
My dear friends, where should I look for such an item?
Hello MM,
I have tried a few pans with ridges in the past and have always ditched them for standard frying pans because they are more trouble than they are worth.

Because of the height of Ranworth Breeze I always use the Broads Authority's tide table which are the only ones that can give me the height of low water at Yarmouth. Other tricks such as counting the ladders rungs at the start Yacht Station moorings, if you can see that 7 rungs are above the water line there is 10 foot clearance under both bridges and Ranworth Breeze needs 9 foot 8 inches with everything down.

We'll next be on Moonlight Shadow for a fortnight from early evening on 5th May, the day before the Coronation. Can anyone give us any advice on where we should head for on Saturday if we want to watch the Coronation on TV - where are we most likely to get a good TV signal? Are there places we should avoid?
Lodon is a dead spot for TV reception and phones Helen.

I still use and prefer the Broads Authority tide tables.

We always took a sharp knife a small non stick frying pan and a few other items in our boat kit when hiring narrow boats.

Dear all,
The incident involving the unexploded bomb in Great Yarmouth is still ongoing and the planned defusal has been put on hold.
A cordon remains in place and the River Yare is still closed to river traffic downstream of Haven Bridge.
Please continue to avoid the area for your own safety.
Best
Tom

The Ranworth Maltsters is open today from 11:30 to about 18:30 - 19:00
Is that good or bad? I have heard the new chef as not improved the meals.

Hello Colin welcome to the forum.

Many boats have modesty covers over the windscreen and side windows, this also acts as uv protection for furnishings.
I usually take our off Ranworth Breeze when going on board and do not put it back on until the end of my allocation.

Hello Chris,
I often have to use Ranworth Breeze solo if I can not temp my friends to come down to the boat for a week or a few days. with solo cruising you have to pick your overnight mooring with care, good stern mooring or low running tides for port or starboard mooring.

Alan

I am sure Brian Ward's could make you a switch panel.

I will moor at Reedham Ferry but not at Reedham, far two much concrete for my liking.
-
It is only now that the bridge is closed to traffic that pedestrians can safely cross the bridge. Ideally it should be pulled down and just a footbridge erected in its place.

WE used to use Boulters when we were previously moored at Ferry Marina after we came back to the northern rivers we again use Boulters both for fuel and the pump out of our two toilet tanks.

As an aside , the only reason there are rangers (voluntary) ones at Ranworth seems to me to be due to the fact that they have a visitors center there , the “current crop” that were there last season did on occasion assist in boats mooring but not IMHO in a manner that was especially efficient or tbh beneficial .
One of these rangers rushes out with their boat hook in hand ready to spear any incoming vessel and is one of those individuals that has a talent to look exceedingly busy whilst achieving diddly squat , often waving a day boat into the side dyke (taxi rank side) or on the front when there are spaces in the dedicated dingy dyke readily available .
They are often seen untying a boat without consulting with the owners or crew so as to squeeze another boat in , and tying the boat lines above an already moored vessels ropes , not good etiquette at the very least , and as far as moving another’s vessels I’m not certain as to the legality either.
In all the years we have been boating , when a boat arrived and is in obvious difficulty making a safe mooring there has been an abundance of willing individuals only to happy to assist.
A BA Ranger is not needed at Ranworth at all and to a majority of those I converse with is not wanted either .
Ergo , if the BA wish to save funds then dispense with the Ranger at Ranworth all together .
It is not one ranger because they operate shifts.

Seems hardly worth their opening at all.
After eating there over many years I prefer the cafe or shed if you like pizza.
