  1. Happy New Year Everyone. Regards Alan
  2. The only one I miss was the Petersfield Hotel and its moorings at Horning.
  3. Gracie, I have had so many tests recently I am unsure of what I am.
  4. We have used Alan May for our last three inspections Regards Alan Ranworth Breeze Boat Syndicate
  5. I will dig it out. Regards Alan
  6. I will make a dozen or two and some lemon curd tarts and a cake for Boxing Day, maybe a Guinness cake with white poring sauce. If you want a less bitter cake use Mackeson instead of Guinness.
  7. A good view of Ranworth Breeze.
  8. It is my understanding that Reedham & Somerleyton act as a pair of bridges so I am unsure why Somerlayyon would be left open?
  9. Good afternoon all, We have been informed by Network Rail that due to planned industrial action from the RMT Union there is potential disruption to Reedham Swing Bridge on the following dates: • From Tuesday 13 December 06:00hrs to Thursday 15 December 06:00hrs • From Friday 16 December 06:00hrs to Sunday 18 December 06:00hrs • From Saturday 24 December (Christmas Eve) 18:00hrs to Tuesday 27 December 06:00hrs • From Tuesday 3 January 06:00hrs to Thursday 5 January 06:00hrs • From Friday 6 January 06:00hrs to Sunday 8 January 06:00hrs Somerleyton Bridge will be unaffected and left open to navigation throughout. Network Rail is committed to staffing the bridges on these dates, however due to the nature of the strikes, we cannot be certain whether normal operations will be affected or not. A pay offer to resolve this matter has been put to a referendum of RMT members, the outcome of which will be known on 12 December. We therefore urge you to be aware of the potential for disruption if you were planning on navigating through Reedham Bridge on the above dates. Network Rail has apologised for the potential impact of these closures on the boating community. We will issue an update if we receive any additional information. 10. We got rid of our dinghy years ago on Ranworth Breeze it was more trouble than it was worth, we also got rid of the small outboard. I often bumped into it from its hanger on the back of the boat and the dinghy shood upright over the aft cabin escape hatch. My two lads used it once on the river, but it was hardly big enough for adults. 21 years later do we miss a dinghy, not at all.
  11. That was my opinion on the power posts.
  12. Good afternoon all, We have been informed by Network Rail of the following information relating to the opening of Broads swing bridges on Christmas and Boxing Day 2022. Somerleyton Swing Bridge will be left in the 'open to navigation’ position on 25 and 26 December. Reedham Swing Bridge will open on demand between 08:00 – 16:00 hrs on 25 and 26 December. Normal services will resume after these dates, until spring 2023. 13. Hello Malcolm, I called in at the marina this morning Ranworth Breeze was out of the mooring, but you were were also missing from your moorings. I guess we will have meet up next season. Nobody seemed to want the chance of being the Ranworth Breeze Chairman and the owners plumped for my re-election.
  14. I havebeen in there in its various facelifts, it is what it is but no more than that. I had a great meal at Potter |Heigham in the Cafe which was packed on Friday, loads of attentive staff and satisfied customers.
  15. I am travelling down to the Broads for my last allocation of the year on Ranworth Breeze later this afternoon or in the morning. I will be Billy no mates this time around (no crew available). Regards Alan
  16. Hello Andrew, Boulters have just announced their winter opening times, they close at 16.00 Monday to Saturday and are closed on Sundays until March. Regards Alan
  17. Andrew this has always been the case but most people on holiday on the Broads prefer to go to a pub for a meal, we out of season boaters have provisions just in case said pubs are closed or not serving food. Regards Alan
  18. Dear all, Due to a dangerous tree adjacent to Neatishead Staithe, which has been assessed as a safety risk to persons and vessels using the site, we have taken the decision to temporarily close the mooring. Emergency tree works to rectify the issue have been planned for 12 November 2022, after which the mooring will be opened again. Signage and fencing is in place to prevent access to the staithe whilst these works are taking place. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. 20. You know how it used to be with those flappy things and bridges Grace on board Ranworth Breeze, Tan also headed below deck when encountered.
  21. I hope you sampled the fish at the Start Bay Inn
  22. My advice is once you have tried it out is to not bother again dinghies/tenders can be a pain when mooring for both you and other river users.
