  1. I think Smellyloo has a good point, I have a sugestion. There is another forum called "Broadly Speaking" I and a number of others here are already members. That forum differed from this one in that it was far more serious. It was often refered to in "the other place" as the "Dark side". As this other forum is already there and encourages serious debate perhaps that is where we could take such broadland political discussions. Further, should members of other forums wish to, they too could advertise "Broadly speaking" for this purpose. I am aware that there is a certain level of bad blood between some members of some forums, I should know, I am one of them, however, sometimes there are occasions and subjects where such animosities need to be left to one side for the greater good. Opinions please!
  2. Not really JA, the boat would just leave one 24 hour mooring and almost certainly go to another. Many boatersd like doing that rather than wild mooring where they might feel vulnerable. No, the answer is as has been said before, more 24 hour moorings, perhaps with "Pay & Display" style machines.
  3. Ahhh yes of course, that would be the Long horned Norfolk nautical cow, especially bred for it's high quality beef and ability to cook a full English breakfast on two gas rings. Sorry, my mistake.
  4. Would the yellow dots not have frightened the cows? They're very nervous animals you know.
  5. I saw that last night. An excellent advert, loved it. and my guess is Yes, bound to be broads inspired.
  6. My mum used to say that to me too, only she missed out the "own up and pay up bit". Didn't say anything about damage either!
  7. The "Free lunch" is to tempt you to buy the extra courses and the wine, that is to say there is a purchasable version with more bells and whistles on it. and a nagging screen trying to get you to buy it!
  8. You have a guage that measures 'Griff' Wow, that is impressive.
  9. I wondered if she was a Bourne, looks like one.
  10. The second cabin cruiser I ever oiwned, I bought as a fibreglass Hull with its superstructure and cabin soles. so it was brand new and thus un-named. Wondering what to call it, a friend of mine who had a narrow boat said "Choose a short name and one with all the letters made of straight lines. It makes the signwriting easier and cheaper." This rather ruled out Poseidon and Neptune plus of course I wanted the name to be female! I stayed on the Greek/Roman mythology line and found Nyx. Nyx was born of Chaos (Fitting) and personified a void (Even more fitting given the empty shell I'd bought) There was no way I was likely to find a shorter name and all the letters were straight, so bingo! When I've bought boats, I have always been reluctant to change the name, superstition and all that. My first boat was a marine ply 16 footer called Kiwi, my third was an aging Sea Master called St. Christopher. I liked neither name but didn't change them. Then I bought Grey Goose IV. I didn't mind the "Grey Goose" so much, but the "IV" was not for me. I still liked the name "Nyx" so "Nyx" it became. Just as a little 'PS' to this some years ago I bought a Dinghy. It had no name so I called it "Nyx II" The BA got the wrong idea of it's name and tolled it as "Nyxii" I didn't rate the dinghy very highly, very unstable in my opinion, so when I saw a better one for sale, I bought it. That also had no name so I tolled that one as "Nyxii II" !
  11. ... and that's all that's needed for her to be the perfect boat for you. Though, having said that, I have to admit that my boat spoke to me too. Sadly this is a 'family forum' and so I'm not allowed to tell you what she said.
