Just come back from 4 Nights on San Selino. I have to say i'm not very good at writing this sort of thing. We arrived early at the yard my first impression of the Staff was very good. They were helpful and knew what they were doing then 1pm came and it was handover time. We got loaded up and along came our trial run driver. It was obvious that a lot of what he was saying was a requirement rather than what was needed. E.g. thats the water point, it blue and marked water the one that is red and marked Diesel is diesel. The trial run was long enough without being over the top.
Off we headed for the first night planned for Acle. I have to say I noted some very poor driving from some hire boat and private owners. I just kept going at a steady pace and got to Acle in pleanty of time. We moored at the £4 which I presume belong to Horizon Craft. We ate at the Bridge Inn, the food was good as was the service and more imporatantly the beer quality!
The next morning we caught the train to Yarmouth and I have to say although it wasn't as bad as some make out i'm pleased I didn't make the effort to cruise down there. We got back and set off for Ludham Bridge and got there at about 3. I was suprised how few spaces there were but then moorings all those facilities are few and far between. We ate at the Dog which was what I would call "Pub Food" but it doesn't pretend to be anything else and was a good portion, well preseneted and tasted good!
The next day we set off for Wroxham however couldn't get under the and all the moorings were full so headed to out booked mooring at the New Inn. Their mooring assistant was very helful and knew the local area well. The food was good although the beer was a little pricey).
For the final Day we had planned on going to Potter and heading beyond the bridge but if we couldn't get through Wroxham I reasoned we had no chance. We headed back to Stalham for the final night and caught a rare glimpse of a Kingfisher.
Whilst moored at Richardsons the boat next to us had it's engine cover open and the engine running. The cleaners came and went and left it running. It got to about 6pm when I decided to call reception but as expected everyone had gone home so contacted the emergancy number ansd as asked shut it down, closed the cover and locked to boat up it seemed someone at Richardsons had forgotten! Whooops!
Would I do it again? Yes although persuading SWMBO could be tricky. The boat itself was comfortable and well equipped and had a newer shaft driven Kubota engine as I was impressed to only use £35.91 of fuel. It also appeared to have 2 alternatiors so I presume one is soley for the domestic batteries which seems like a good idea!
The process this morning was again quick and efficient and I would be very tempted to book with Richardsons again and would reccomend them!
