  1. It was over two years ago as my little Broom Scorpio is on its mooring.
  2. Kate, The view is looking towards the river, Whitey is on the front just out of view on the right. The marina is set out with floating pontoons and fingers, the entrance to the river is off to the left. It is a quiet big marina, about 160 berths of varying sizes but feels small and friendly.
  3. Finally on its mooring, being dwarfed by Denham Owl.
  4. Sorry to hear this Marina, I am sure everyone on the forum is thinking of you all and sending our thoughts and best wishes to Ian.
  5. As the biggest leisure operator in Norfolk I guess they know what they are doing and where the profit is. It is good to see forward thinking and investment in the industry, especially at the moment.
  6. Finally got the Sheerline to BGM after a bit of pain in the wallet. Tomorrow I need to fit a couple of mid cleats and have a general clean and tidy. I have noticed six bags of sand on the port side, just ahead of the middle. These are under the bench area on top and around the water tank. The engine is in the rear starboard hatch and the fuel tank is under the floor at the front, next to the helm. Seems an odd place to put ballast. There is a hatch under the bow that I will investigate tomorrow. When it is moored next to Whitey the front is a good six inches higher than the rear, I can't decide if this is a design feature or bad ballast. When helming the boat it did feel as though the bow was skittish. Hopefully the photo will load as I am on steam powered dial up connection at the moment.
  7. Keep up the battle Ian. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
  8. Most new build houses have had push fit connections and poly pipe for years. I am not a big fan of it unless it is properly clipped. It does make alterations easier for a non plumber and is an improvement on copper pipe that has deteriorated in quality since the 70s. My boats have all had poly pipe in some areas, Whitey is all poly. It does have better resistance to splitting in freezing weather. I always replace a push fit fitting if it has to be removed or altered.
  9. Very low high tide at Brundall today. At high tide it was lower than a very low tide.
  10. The broadscot lounge section is where other non broads threads can be discussed, given this one is at 83 pages now it is obviously popular.
  11. I know Brundall Gardens has had some flooding to the yard, the slipway is under water and the holiday cottages car park is flooded. Fortunately the marina staff have been around checking boats and ropes.

  13. Big whip aerials, after market mud flaps, plastic wheel covers and a bit of go faster striping, I even had a bit of custom sign writing. My first few cars looked like I had ram-raided all the local car accessory shops.
  14. A Merry Christmas and a healthy and peaceful New Year to all our wonderful members. A special thank you to the Mod team, Events team and our ever watchful Tech team. Without their quiet support in the background this forum would not be the great place it is. I will also be raising a glass to the memory of Alan and Uncle Mike, great contributors to the running of the forum and much missed by us and their families. And to our members dealing with ill health, you are in our thoughts and prayers. Finally, to all our members, thank you for not making my life too stressful this year and for all the wonderful posts that make us smile.
  15. The plastic sun visor across the top of the screen with his and her names on. 😂 A stocking to replace the fan belt in an emergency. A piece of 1/2" copper tube and two Jubilee clips for an emergency hose repair. The joys of Cortina 1600E ownership.
  16. Is your new Norfolk runabout car ordered yet.
  17. Me moving to the berth next to you was the final straw to drive you out of BGM 😂 Enjoy Cove.
  18. 📬 We have just sent out December's Broads Briefing newsletter with updates on recent maintenance work in some challenging weather conditions, winter safety advice, our opening times over the festive period and more. Read it here: https://mailchi.mp/384087429ccc/broads-briefing-december-13546038?e=
  19. Probably a fiver daytime, an additional tenner overnight to use them
  20. Blimey Kate, that is a stark reminder to us all. Hope you are okay now. I very rarely wear a lifejacket as I never cruise solo. As the spring in my step gets less 'springy' I am aware that I am taking more care and less risk when moving around outside the boat.
