  1. The other post with the link is back ready for comments.
  2. If you are using sand and cement, mix it dry and work it into the joints, don't over brush it as it separates the cement dust out. A nice thin scaper helps get it in narrow joints. Do an area then lightly sprinkle water over the area and allow it to go off. Keep some of the same mix incase you get areas that sink away, you get a perfect colour match then. Easy joint is great and I have used it on slabs with voids. It has been down five years without issue. A little tip, if you have to leave an opened easy joint container with some left in it, cover the contents with water, it stays usable for weeks, just drain the water and apply. I wouldn't use anything else now.
  3. What a great job, you have a very lucky son. What are you using for pointing the slabs. The resin based product Easy Joint is very easy to use and lasts well.
  4. What a fascinating read, thank you for posting it.
  5. Streamed 7 years ago, ( says at the bottom ) 😁
  6. I have narrowed the new boat choice to a Safari MK11 or ideally a Siesta 20. The Siestas are like hens teeth. Looked at a Safari today, it was under budget and sound but needed a lot of work, repaint, new galley. The engine was a health hazard, a lot of smoke that didn't go even when it was warmed up. I wouldn't have been surprised if someone had called the fire brigade. I got out all my surveying gadgets, including the endescope and had a good check everywhere. Under the rear berth I noticed this strange contraption, next to the water tank. I am guessing it is some kind of antiquated pump / pressure vessel. Any ideas.

  9. As far as I am aware there isn't a website yet.
  10. Funnily enough I need some rollers replacing on a couple of patio doors on the boat, even better that they are nearby.
  11. It is great to welcome our latest sponsor BK Windows. Please take time to have a look at their advert below in our sponsors area. Thank you to BK windows.
  12. The boat going under a bridge wasn't your main issue
  13. https://lucasestak.com/en-en/products/new-way Try this John, from his own website.
  14. The Yare has been very quiet for hire boats, only two at the yacht station this afternoon and only 3 heading from Brundall to Norwich.
  15. I have now been in the pub to eat three times in the last few weeks and have to say I like it, the food is acceptable and the service friendly and efficient. The place was booked out and also plenty of people in the garden area. The pub moorings are right outside but were empty. The fact it was so busy without relying on boaters mooring is encouraging. The decor is as far as you can get from the smokey rundown image of it's past. It is light and comfortable now. Well worth a visit.
  16. That was difficult using a phone camera on a boat that wouldn't stay still last night.
  17. Just taken this, it is very misty on the river.
  18. I was saddened to hear this morning that Mike had passed away. Mike and Pat were great supporters of the forum over many years. Anyone who purchased from the shop has Mike and Pat to thank for a swift service. Mike acted as a moderator and always offered sound advice. My condolences and thoughts go out to Pat and their family at this sad time. Rest peacefully Mike.
  19. Dear all, Notice is hereby given that Mutford Lock will be operating under restricted conditions in order to conduct emergency repairs. During this period, the lock will remain open but with limited opening hours dependent on the tide. When planning passage or for other enquiries, please contact Oulton Broad Yacht Station on 01502 574946 or VHF Channel 73. Kind regards, Tom Tom Waterfall Senior Communications Officer Direct dial 01603 756034 Broads Authority Yare House, 62-64 Thorpe Road, Norwich NR1 1RY
  20. On the river front at Brundall Gardens I get a reasonable signal on O2. If I move towards the station it goes completely. The marina wifi is quite good, dependent on where you are but can be disrupted by poor weather as it is beamed in from some miles away.
  21. Unfortunately peoples dreams rarely make a good business, I have mentored a number of dreamers, usually advising them to invest their money in a savings account instead. Small business start up is a faster way to burn money than a boat. Of 30 odd start ups I have mentored over the years, half stopped in time, 10 failed and 5 or 6 flourished eventually.
  22. Not sure if this will work, trying to copy from the email on my phone. This is way above my training 😁 1692737905713_Broads Authority Integrated Access Strategy scoping paper.docx
  23. Dear Broads stakeholder, Please note that the timetable in yesterdays Integrated Access Strategy scoping paper email ( section 9) contained dates which were not correct. This has now been updated and is reflected in the attached scoping paper. Apologies for any confusion this may have caused. The deadline for comment has not changed and is still midday Monday 18 September. 24. The A11 has overnight closure at the moment. The sign posting for the diversion is shockingly bad.. As you come off the A11 heading towards Norwich the only sign sends you back down the A11 for 2 miles and around the roundabout back to where you get diverted back down the A11. I ignored this and followed the sat nav, that takes you to a closed off Junction. I eventually found diversion signs. All in all it adds an extra half hour to the journey. 4 grandchildren are now onboard with the overflow ( boys )housed in the accommodation barge ( Shetland ) alongside. I think we are going to need a bigger boat. 😇
