Is there an easy way to see if a YouTube thing is monetised. It seems to me, and I am no expert, that those who aim to make money out of a video approach it differently than say SwanR (Jean). I enjoy the gentle nature of Jean's and others output where as I hate hearing the biased spouting of some egotistical snot who thinks I value his opinion and usually has an axe to grind. What I do enjoy, and always read, are our own members holiday write and memories.

Never have this stuff installed, it should be banned. My son has to refuse a mortgage on most properties he surveys that has it. I have seen it cause failure of a roof. Sorry for the thread drift 😁

No, nothing fitted other than the brass one on the exit of the pump. Given the cost of a new calorifier I will remove the old one and take it home to see if I can get the remains of the threaded fitting out of the outlet fitting, I am not very hopeful.

Turns out the brass fitting is a pressure relief valve. I took it apart and found a spring and a small disc. I cleaned it up and refitted it. The pump is replaced and all leaks fixed. Having refilled the water tank and switched the pump on I checked the calorifier under the bench on the other side. Four pipes, four small leaks. I managed to fix three by tightening the Jubilee clips and tweaking the fitting up a bit. The fourth one wouldn't stop leaking so I decided to take it off and remake it. Trouble is it decided to sheer off the calorifier outlet fitting. The calorifier is probably past it's best, it isn't factory insulated and is showing signs of rusting. Looks like I will be fitting a new unit. That wasn't in the plan. I might stop off the domestic connections and connect the engine pipes together as a temporary measure until I come back up. Tomorrow will be turning my much under rated skills to the toilet pump replacement, lowering the bilge float and changing the gas regulator. Turns out the Flogas regulators changed and the refill bottle doesn't fit the old regulator. Edit Blimey, I have just seen the price of calorifier.

Thanks Vaughan, should I leave it slightly open as it was, although it was dripping slightly when the pump was on or close it right down. I will need to check the calorifier on the other side of the boat to see if it has a pressure relief valve

Thanks Smoggy, I will fit a replacement assembly rather than replace the toilet, it looks like the original unit, I just didn't want to replace it if I was missing something obvious. Brian Wards have stock for that and the pump The boat had elderly owners who couldn't keep up the maintenance, the engine was serviced every year but things like water leaks, lights and heating were all neglected. The window frames had more moss in the runners than a hanging basket. The list is growing faster than I can get jobs ticked off. So much for a restful break.

Getting stuck in to sorting out the Sheerline 740. Now known as White Knight. First question, any idea what this is for and can I get rid of it. It has a threaded cap with a large screw inside that wasn't fully tightened down causing a small leak from the outlet. It is a fairly basic water system. I need to replace the water pump as it is noisy and also leaking so can remove this at the same time. My second problem is with the manual pump toilet. It pumps out ok but doesn't pump water in. It is river fed and I have opened the valve but no luck. Cooking oil has been flushed through. Before I change the pump handle assembly is there anything else I should do. Thanks.

I hate so to start a sentence, it used to be the preserve of academics. My other pet hate is official spokespersons saying " you know" every sentence, No, we don't know that is why we are being forced to listen to you. And my final hate, well for this morning, Really really. Stop it, using it twice doesn't double its power. So, you know, it is really really annoying.

Allison, I will let you into a secret, but don't tell anyone. I have just completely messed up a side on mooring, with nothing in front of me and had to go around again. My defence is the wind caught me and Whitey is a pig in wind. I have had it 13 years and still struggle sometimes. Keep at it, it will get easier.

Grandchildren have now been returned. They may be 13 and 16 now but they are just as exhausting, but so much fun to be with. We still have two dirty boats that need cleaning but we all have a few more great memories tucked away. Seen and waved to a good number of members as they have passed by on the river. Saturday evening saw us booked into a very busy White Heron. The food and drinks order was taken, drinks turned up, starters arrived after quite a delay. Then we waited, and waited some more. A member of staff arrived to say sorry for the delay, they were plating up the meals. 20 minutes later when I asked what was happening the manager arrived with profuse apologies and the offer of a complimentary round of drinks. There had been an issue with processing the order. The food finally arrived an hour after the starters were finished and nearly two hours after our arrival. The food was good and well cooked. We appeared to be the only tabled affected by the 'glitch' so I would give them the benefit of the doubt, especially as they took ownership of the problem and immediately offered a round of drinks. Lunchtime today we went to the nearly opened Water's Edge in Wroxham. The food and service was excellent and the pricing was good. I would recommend eating here without hesitation and may well go back for an evening meal before we go home. The next few days will be spent boat cleaning and doing upgrades to the Sheerline although I do have a sneaky breakfast booked at the Ferry House on Wednesday 😁. Edit to add, It poured down Sunday night, the bilge pump was on overtime as I had taken the big rear cover off. At least I know the sliding canopy on the Sheerline is now watertight after I adjusted it and added some soft rubber gasket. I did find a small leak by the back door to add to the list.
