  1. Home! as here in Donny safe and sound. Well that is one huge tick in the box on the ol bucket list. So honoured and humbled to have spent four days onboard MTB102. I have taken a ton of photo's and quite a few video films too, As of yet I have not even looked at any of them, (need to get organised for work in the morning) Robin will no doubt do his editing thing and come up with something or other. I'll get onto a write up of sorts but not got any spare days/evening in the near future (Having to work this Sat and Sun) Griff
  2. Evening, just got home and trying to do a bit of catching up (There's a LOT of topics ongoing). Just lets be clear on one point here - I didn't get any forecast wrong on that infamous trip back from the Thames. I used three different wx forecasting mediums - they all agreed with each other and I made the decision to go. As it turned out the forecasting mediums all got it wrong together - where I got it wrong - was believing them! Griff
  3. Ok - I don't have a smart phone thingy (Well I do but never used it yet) what I will do is endeavour to send txt's to a couple of forumites during our time underway and assuming that I have a signal. They can then post on here if they have a min or two during the day. I'll do a write up on my return with photo's and since Robin has put me right there is no excuse for a small video or two! Hope this will suffice, Griff P.S - Just learnt how to 'Quote' properly - a breeze even for me!
  4. The cost? B = Bung O = On A = Another T = Thousand Griff
  5. Ok Robin, got that, just viewed it, tomorrow I will hopefully get a few mins to adjust the settings as you instructed. Big Tks and maybe see you in St Kats Dock Sat/Sun Question - Why is it that I enjoy seeing you and hearing you on film so much? especially your blogs etc. You have a certain something in front of the camera that I just can't explain, I've heard the term 'A natural in front of the camera' - I think this is you! Thanks again, Griff
  6. For Mum/Dad it used to be HW'S in the 50's, then from the early 60's for all of us it became Brooms. Nowadays it's my drive as I'm getting my leg-over if I'm proper lucky (Calm down - alighting on the Mighty Tiger) otherwise the 'GriffTile' van or MrsG's car Griff
  7. Hi Rod : Thanks for the update, I will keep an eye out for you. No - nope to do with 'Sail Greenwich' - whatever that is! This is the Thames Festival weekend, MTB102 is the VIP guest at St Kats dock Sat/Sun Griff
  8. Oooh, yes please, reciprocated with a trip onboard 'B.A' perhaps? Griff
  9. Thanks Robin, very good of you as per the norm. Just got in at 2215, now need to walk Macie dog, have a shower attend to some paperwork, early start in t morning but hopefully I'll get time to view, digest and understand it! Thanks Griff
  10. Could Richo's get any better?? August this year early one morning, and it was early, at around 0630 we got woken with a bang/crash as 'B.A' shuddered from an impact on the Stbd bow. I shot outside camera in hand in just my shreddies (Not a pretty site) we were berthed outside the Bridge Inn at Acle, there was a Richo's bathtub just leaving coming about and heading downstream towards GYA, The helm of said bathtub did a fine job of ignoring my verbal and visual attempts for him to stop. They had reversed into 'B.A' on their departure. The damage was cosmetic but plain to see and somewhat unsightly To cut a long story short the Broads Authority were very good, they later that day apprehended the crew of the bathtub and kept me informed. Richo's - 'B.A' was back in her mooring by Monday teatime. By Thursday of the same week, the staff at Richo's had done a repair with no questions or hassle at all and kept me informed. Following weekend I viewed the repair - this was the only issue - I couldn't see any evidence of a repair - a Perfect job had been done So could Richo's get any better? Well no business is perfect and none should rest on their laurels, but for me this incident was dealt with professionally and quickly so they just could not have done any better at all! Well done Richo's from me (And 'B.A') and Thank You Griff
  11. Having just checked the wx forecast for Fri / Mon, 'It's looking good Houston' http://www.myweather2.com/Marine/Global-Ports/United-Kingdom/Lowestoft.aspx?sday=0&eday=7 Just one sleep to go and then the next sleep will be onboard an amazing piece of floating history, which probably means I'll be awake all night grinning my head off and pinching mysen! Griff
  12. Thanks again for your well wishes - getting closer by the day, wx forecast is looking good to! I need to converse with LR and get him to explain to me how I take moving vids with this ere smart camera, that the thing with 'Smart' technology - one has to be smart enough to use it - I ain't ! Griff
  13. Blimey - I didn't even recognise my own boat! BTW - I can't seem to find an 'embarrassed' Emoticon - do we have one? Griff
  14. Tis too Polly but I will get over it. Onwards and upwards, Griff
  15. Beta 50Hp for me and 'B.A' - unashamedly biased as we have on of course! Griff
  16. Welcome to all the 'Newbies' new and old - there is quite a few of them/us of late. (Wonder why that is? ) I'm feeling a bit bruised at present and proper annoyed at having to post and defend mysen in that other place. I like the members here much more and especially the mods (Creeping again!). Thanks to the old faces for making me welcome Griff
  17. Welcome from me and 'B.A' too, I've been here a while now but not posted much until of late. You're in good company Griff
  18. Only 162 miles for me, that's from our driveway here just outside Doncaster to Richo's 3 x Hrs or less is considered a good time (In the 'GriffTile' van) however if in MrsG's car with the 'Nag-Nav' sat next to me there 3 1/2 Hrs is considered good If I'm on the mighty Tiger - well it's a lot quicker than the van of course! I quite enjoy the journey as I change my mindset, my weekend now starts when I join the A1 at Blyth which only takes me 10 mins or so from home. As for the journey home - not bothered about this since we became owners - it took away that horrible last morning / handing the boat back feeling Griff
  19. Right, I'm outa here, Cleethorpes here we come Griff
  20. ETA at St Kats Dock is 1700 on the Friday. Let me have your mobile and I'll txt you nearer the time, Griff
  21. 8ft at Wroxham? - Well I spose it is possible but I've not seen that much clearance. There was more airdraft than I normally see, very little wind and boat traffic so conditions were just about perfect for me to 'Have a go' From memory the guage would have been showing around 7ft 2" or there abouts. 'B.A' requires 6ft5" to be safe, in normal configuration. 6ft5" or more and I can take her through PHB all day long with a whole 1" to spare. Removing a few other items which involves a screwdriver I can get her down to 6ft3" meaning I could go with a bridge gauge showing 6ft4" giving me a whole 1" margin which is my personal safety margin. Here's another one Griff
  22. 'Just the one Mrs Wembley' No sense in pushing ones luck, and that was lucky and then some! Griff
