Well watched the video and thought we might be on to something. Chose the cd/dvd option which "is suitable to be played on a dvd player linked to a tv" but no joy. It still burns to dvd as .mov files. Back to the drawing board. Never realised it would be so difficult to put a few iphone videos onto a dvd to watch on the telly!

Whoops, I've been using the Burn Data Option. I'll have to have a further read of the help files. The only options under Video are Video DVD from Folder, Video CD (VCD) and Super Video CD (SVCD). So do I not need to convert the iphone .mov files in the first place?

Hmm, I don't think the format I need is there. Seems to be AVI, WMV, MPG, MKV and MP4. I also downloaded WinX DVD but that's not looking good either. Any suggestions for a converter that would do the trick?

We were watching a 30 year old video that I had transferred from a camcorder tape to dvd many years ago and I thought to myself that that was a good way to preserve a few videos on my iphone as, like most people, they tend to get backed up and stored in all sorts of places that no-one will ever find. Now DVD ripping is not something I've ever done so it could be something quite obvious I'm doing wrong. I took 6 10 second videos on my iphone in the 6 different formats that are available. Eventually managed to get them on the computer after a few hours (that's another story!) and then downloaded Ashampoo Video Converter and Ashampoo Burning Studio. Using a Sony DVP-NS38 DVD player (which according to Google can play all available DVD formats) and bought some DVD+RW disks. Well I've converted the iphone files to every format going, burnt to disk, put them in the player - same message - NO Audio, NO Video. Is there anything obvious I'm doing wrong? Not sure I want to waste any more hours on this!

Another vote for Malwarebytes. Also use Superantispyware along side.

Yes, remember listening in the old days. Always a one sided conversation except once. There was a serious incident and all channels were left open for a couple of hours.

Brilliant news. We were last on the Broads in 2015 and the dilapidation was such a sad sight at what was always one of our favourite stops. Look forward to visiting at the end of July.

Also used to do this many years ago. My favourite was always elderflower wine. Only downside was that it smelt like cat's pee when it was fermenting! Lovely taste though.

Yes, I had the front cabin with my wife so that daughter and her husband could have cabins next to the 3 grandchildren. Took me a while when I got home to stop looking for a locker at the bottom of the bed to put my feet on !

Luckily, over the past 40 years, I think I could count the times we've had downpours like the one on the Friday afternoon on one hand. Just a much drier part of the country than over here. It was handy it was the end of the week - we just used every towel we could get our hands on. How on earth they dried it all out for the next people on the Saturday I'll never know.

We had it for a week from 18th July (must get a report written up). Nice boat that was easy to handle. Great layout for what we wanted. Only downside was the heavy rain we had at the end of that week. Unfortunately it was a bit like a sieve. Two beds became unusable, the canopy covers were all but useless as all the press studs were broken so the rain pored in all over the control panel and through the side windows. The rain also wouldn't clear at the back of the boat and came in through the sliding door. Luckily, we had cracking weather all week until the Friday dinner time but I would hate to be on it for a full week in the rain.

About 30 years ago I was there with wife, 5 year old daughter and 3 year old son. We were about a mile from Breydon coming up from Oulton Broad and I remember saying to my wife that it was the first time I had ever seen a Broads river with choppy water. Anyway, it got worse and worse and when we got the first site of Breydon there were lots of white horses. Really not knowing quite what to do and not knowing what a broads cruiser is capable of, it was lucky that a ranger was going in our direction. I shouted across asking whether it was safe to cross but he just gave us large "wave" motions with his hand so I assumed it was ok. Well, by the time we were a quarter the way across, the wind was howling and we were bouncing! The bow was crashing down and waves were smashing over the cabin roof - with most ending up inside. We managed to follow in the wake of a large private cruiser for about half the way across but it was quite a hairy experience. The hardest part was trying to get my wife and 2 little ones that this is quite normal and not a problem in the slightest ! When we got back to the boatyard at the end of the week I remember the man apologising for the force 9 that Norfolk had provided us with midweek and how he hoped we had been moored up safely. I really didn't like to say anything . . .

Excellent read ! We arrived home last Saturday and now back to work but will post a report when the "home sadness" fades.

Perhaps it would be better to ignore the speed limits but when a hirer takes over they are taken to some calm waters and shown the wash that is acceptable. Then they would just need to look behind rather than trying to compute the speed depending on how fast the river is flowing.

OK, what I thought was a simple question was obviously not and seems to have confused everybody apart from Speedtriple (and LadyPatricia and MauriceMynah who both posted while I was typing!). Since 1976, we have worked out where we want to go on our very short time of 7 days on the Broads. That will depend on who we are with and their ages and where we don't seem to have been for a long while. That itinerary is not worked out by the tides at Great Yarmouth apart from working out whether there will be plenty of room under the bridges and, obviously keeping as far away from high tide as possible. On the Wednesday we will be moored at Oulton Broad and on Thursday we will be heading for Stokesby. High water is at 2.32pm. I'm no King Canute hence the question of what time should I leave to get under the Yarmouth bridges with plenty of room. I am well aware of the "best" time to go through but that is not always possible. So, alexandlorna, no, I am not timing it to arrive at high water and Hockham Admiral, why would you be sorry you asked? You asked why I would be fighting a flood tide and I explained.

Which is why I asked the question in the beginning - to make sure I hit Yarmouth a couple of hours before high tide.
