If we want to go to GY we moor at the yacht station. Best to time it when the tide is just turning. Don’t forget that the tide is still running after the stated slack plus one hour. You can call the rangers to organise the best time and of course they are happy to help you moor up. The walk is not too far from the YS.

Did that route there and back starting the other end. You soon get used to the locks. The set of lock near Beziers is interesting but the lock keepers keep you under control. We are looking to go back. Vaughan is excellent for advice on this canal.

We have hired from many yards, my favourite was Maffetts and Swallow. We like basic boats and take the dog with us. We have hired from Herbert Woods for the last two years as they had a particular layout that suited us. We had a few problems that were rectified very quickly by pleasant and cheerful staff, no battery problems. We have already booked two weeks with them for next year.

Off course it is understandable that hire boaters are less likely to realise that their hire yard has already paid a toll for the boat annual usage which in turn goes towards paying for the upkeep of the mooring.
Can someone explain this to me please. It might have been included last year, but this year they have separated it out and made it a direct charge, somewhat like VAT. In practice.

What do you do if your dog really won’t settle and hates being on the boat? Dog or boat … if you’re an owner which would you choose?
Max would be staying at home, luckily he loves it.

Good to hear Paladin. If they can hold it together and all go in the same direction, progress could be made.

Seeing as I’m here all week I thought I’d try Richo’s cafe for breakfast this morning. Chuffin Eck, £9:30 for a sausage muffin and a coffee (Microwave) - Wow. Declined a receipt in case that cost another quid. Stalham high Street tomorrow
On the upside the decor is pleasant it’s card only, no cash payments

Does not look very appetising either. Will give it a miss.
