  1. Is the NDR a secret project to kill off the dangerously stupid?
  2. JO I thought it was all going rather well. But I agree it’s tak n a turn for the worse.
  3. I don’t remember taking credit. Does anyone have any idea what this means? It appears to be gibberish. Perhaps you can explain?
  4. I’m not sure, Vaughan, I need to prove a ‘motive’. My post was created in response to a moderators comment that reasoned argument was welcomed here. One of the things that is really obvious to the few who argue against the orthodoxy is that, I am “pointlessly arguing” and “being deliberately provocative” and “creating conflict “ and “derailing sensible debate”. You, whoever you are, are “offering constructive criticism” “just stating the facts” and “educating the naive”. I’m pleased that JM has discovered that life isn’t too short to respond. What a difference a day makes.

    Bye Bye

Dunno. Haven’t left. Haven’t started a forum. Don’t think forums should have a party line at all. All the best.

    Bye Bye

JohnK asked me to thank those who have said kind things.
  7. BA? No, not in any way. Or anyone associated with them, whatever falsehoods and innuendo are being spread by some. Let’s start with you end line. “Can’t be described as a positive force” I think I would say that it’s effect is in many senses “neutral”. They do some things right and some things wrong. Bit like every other organisation on the planet ??? I think many of your negatives you list are right, although you have presented them in fairly negative terms. It is pointless debating each one but, as an example, individuals with deep pockets took the BA to court, over the branding, something that few would have predicted. There are actually 2 quite distinct issues here: firstly the NP /Sanford stuff. I think what we hear repeatedly is simple b*******s. It’s not really an issue at all - it’s the boogeyman and if you take that away you can then focus on the second issue, the conduct of the authority - case by case. What you must accept is that the current climate means anything the Authority does is viewed through the negative prism of the whole “full NP means restricting the rights of boaters” I looked back to the reaction of the NBN to the acquisition of the Acle moorings. I think BA paid a bit over £100k for them. Seems like a bargain and something most people wanted. Have a look what people said “it’s not really new mooring” “not as good as the pontoons were meant to get at Thurne mouth” Some did welcome it but does this sound like a balanced debate to you?

That’s a fitting end. Shall we just leave it there ??

    Bye Bye

I miss John already. He and I saw many things the same and were both at odds with the “party line.” Seen lots of people leave recently. All for the same core reason. A couple of tears are shed but then everything goes back to the way the dominant voices here like it. That is, the party line isn’t challenged.

    Is that a joke?

So my crime is that some didn’t get it? i humbly apologise.

    Bye Bye

JohnK knew it was a joke from the get-go. I knew he was leaving and I know why.

I bloody am! But not so much of the old. I'm 37.
  15. Fair dos Fred. It's a good point. I think the majority are pretty reasonable on most subjects. All the best
  16. Just to be clear, not engaging is fine. To claim my views count for nothing because I've only lived here for 4 years, is insulting in many, many, ways. Not least to all the other people here who don't live here, but visit and feel they have a right to contribute.

    Bye Bye

Better than no sense of humour at all..... winky winky emoji makes everything OK
  18. Don't you find it a bit disappointing Mr Mynah? You haven't lived here long enough? That's it? Shall we all put our credentials on every post now? Length of boat ownership? Location of main dwelling? Number of posts on the EDP website?
  19. I'm hugely disappointed in you Mr Waller that you choose to simply dismiss. I have always really admired you, at the very least for your relentless and indegafatible pursuit of what you believe to be right. But that really is disappointing. The idea that you have no time to debate the rights and wrongs of this is another occasion when only derision will do. You have devoted, I am certain, hundreds of hours to just that as your many many thousands of posts and comments on all forms of media attest. But now life is too short!
  20. Everything I have read about dredging leads me to believe that I know nothing about dredging. What I do know is that the consequences of any dredging operation are not obvious to the untrained. I'm not sure what point you're making - that no one has the money to dredge the entire river?
  21. I think I would out that down as 'an unproven assertion' - do you mean to stop dredging as a cost saving? Wouldn't the hire boat industry and 10000 boaters have something to say about that?
  22. Marshman I fully expect all kinds of things, relevant and totally irrelevant (can you guess what I'm refferring to ?? ) but why worry? I like reading the NBN but it irks me when things that are just not true are endlessly repeated as fact. Note: a great deal of the above is based on actual research - I have even read the submissions from the petitioners to the Lords including our own JM. And much of the debate on the 2009 Bill and things like the DEFRA briefing pre-bill.
