That’s good news. We are back on the Broads in a fortnight’s time and will confined to the northern broads (tides, and I don’t fancy night navving across Breydon). We’ve not moored overnight at Sutton Staithe before, so that would be a good ‘first’.

Hi Helen.  We moored there a lot when we had Shadow.  A nice mooring.  Dog had fun, but was a bit muddy at the time.

On our way to MS for Trip 15 (whoopee!). This one's a bonus trip as one of our new Syndicate members couldn't use their week.

Currently at the La Hogue Farm Shop cafe for lunch. The day is warming up too, so a good start to the holiday.

Who would have thought, when we showed you and your hubby round Shadow at Norwich yacht station all those years ago, that it would come to this.  Funny old world!

for the first time  my plum tree in the front garden has produced fruit (other than a single plum) it was all on one part of the tree (about 1/5 of the tree and I got 8 plums which went down nicely with my tea.) - the tree- well its nearly 20 foot high now.

Lucky you.  This year our Plum didn't have any fruit at all.  They apple and pears are abundant.  The dogs are having a great time scrumping.

Agreed!  In all the years I’ve been visiting The Broads, I’ve never set foot in the place.  There’s something about it that just doesn’t encourage me in.  Mr Hollocks clearly has another cunning plan in mind.  No doubt we’ll read all about it in due course in the EDP.

Hi.  Don't post on here very often anymore.  But, years ago the Berney was run by two blokes.  What with their welcome and the dog running down the stairs to greet everyone.  It was very welcoming and the moorings were looked after.  From memory it started to go downhill when they left.  Some have tried and failed since to make it a going concern though.

Hello Helen at least you will have an easier crossing than we had on Ranworth Breeze, we had to set off from Brundall around 3.oo am  to get to the Yarmouth Bridges by 7.00 am to get a suitable tide.

With regards to your mooring at Horning Pleasurecraft, the boat next to Ranworth Breeze has been moved so we could be neighbors.

    Regards

    Alan

Oh the joys of seven ladder rungs at Yarmouth Yacht station!

There was a very good reason for moving to a different base, which would be unfair to discuss on here, but when we voted on the move, it was a unanimous decision.  There were no other yards on the southern rivers that would accommodate a syndicate boat except one at Beccles, who might have a space next March, but might not!

On that basis, we are grateful to Clive and his team at Horning for making space for Moonlight Shadow and are looking forward to completing the move.

Good luck with the move.  A unanimous decision.  Fantastic.  There must be a change in personalities!

When we were hiring a late takeover would have been a BIG problem. We are a lot more relaxed now we have four weeks a year (sometimes more if another member offers up a week). On our last few jaunts we haven’t rushed away the first day but have stayed overnight in the Marina.

I don’t think people who haven’t experienced syndicate boating quite comprehend the change in mindset.

That's right.  Towards the end of our ownership we very rarely left the mooring quite content just to sit and watch the world go by.  Of course that was before Shadow got moved.

    Thanks Matt!

We are currently having an online discussion about the turnaround day, though it looks like Friday has all the votes so far. To be honest, a lot of people left the boat on Friday when it was at Brooms, as it was impossible to get fuel and pump-out anywhere nearby before the early time that we were supposed to vacate the boat on Saturday morning.

It's all happened rather fast today, as we only got the final confirmation that we had the mooring this morning. Lots of whoops of joy and gifs on our Moonlight Shadow owners WhatsApp group!

By the way, we've really taken a step forward in communication in the syndicate recently with the website that Warren has created and the WhatsApp group.

Helen.  The Shadow has certainly changed since we sold.  I keep seeing the photos and being a bit envious.  But the decision to sell was right then and still is.  A move up north was broached a few times but never happened.  Lightning is the only syndicate boat left at Broom now?  Sue

That spot at Brundall won't look so familiar soon. MS is now on a new mooring. Apparently, Brooms are going to develop that bit of key heading into a site for day boats.

Did you get on your way before we passed Bramerton this morning, or was I just too dozy to spot you moored up there?

Isn't the weather horrible this morning. Seren wants a walk. We want the rain to stop!

Hi Helen.  Where is Shadow now? That's a shame about the move, apart from the stones that was one of the best moorings at.Brooms.  Manys the times we just stayed on the mooring watching the world go by.

  10. Hi folks.  A friend of ours is moving to Attleborough in the next couple of weeks.  She has a 10 year old spaniel and has been attending a dog training group for a number of years.  She is looking for a similar facility near her new home.  Have any of you good Norfolk folks got any recommendations?  Thanks.  Sue

  11. We were on our maiden voyage in Ranworth Breeze, with Glenn giving us the tutor.  His wife phoned to say it had appeared on the news.

Our trips always coincided with something newsworthy.  We went up there once during the fuel strike and a lot of the other hirers were panicking about having enough fuel to get home.

  12. Hi Helen.  We haven't got an allotment, but this is the first time in a number of years we have used the greenhouse for what it is designed for and not storage.  Shadow and the caravan used to take all our time.  Now no Shadow, and all caravan sites closed, more time for the garden.

  13. Purely my personal opinion, with Tin Hat firmly on!

But I cant see how grown men feel the need to beat seven shades out of each other,  in the name of sport, even if it is skilful.  It can cause so many problems.  A case in point; how Cassias Clay ended up, you cant tell me that it did not have something to do with his fighting over the years.
