  1. No rant at all, a perfect explanation of how things, and more importantly 'people', have degenerated in society. I would also add that nobody these days accepts responsibility when they themselves are proved to be in the wrong.
  2. Hell hath no fury like snowflake scorned.
  3. One could always counter that by saying another should remove their head from their own anus?. And I put that very politely too.
  4. What an absolute load of crap. Yes, and i`m fiercely proud to be one. There is NO climate crisis, the only crisis is people NEEDING to have a cause to believe in to give themselves a clear conscience (spelling?) rather than believing in themselves and their ability to think for themselves, rather than be taken in by children falsely believing they know what they are talking about rather than accepting the fact they are only puppets of the prophets of doom and gloom.
  5. We took a couple of them up on Lightning about 3 years back, as we kept drawing November for our autumn week. Yes they are pretty good, but they hammer the nuts out of the leccy supply., so if we were to stay in the yard for the week with them on all the time, we`d end up owing the syndicate about £20 in leccy. Glad you`re enjoying your week despite the weather Helen, did Merv and Pauling take Lightning out in the end?.
  6. Hi Woodie, welcome from me too.
  7. Hi Helen, It`s Merv and Pauline this week, a really nice couple, and it was me that hosted the show around a couple of years back. If you see them, say hello, they may invite you aboard for a nosey around and a cuppa, or something stronger.
  8. Looks a bit white Helen, . Are you going out in the car instead of cruising?, that`s what we do on Lightning in November, but have yet to sample the delights of March, 5 weeks time, we`ll find out. Is Lightning still ok, and do you know whether she has a crew this week?.
  9. Certainly the upper echalons MUST be elected, not those on the ground so to speak. How this will pan out should be discussed by local residents and businesses, along with boat owners groups. No one says it will be easy, but just because it is'nt easy DOES'NT mean it can't or shouldn't be done.
  10. Hi Malcolm, It looks to me like a library shot, so yes, you might be right re Gainsborough Girl. If it is Gainsborough Girl, she will no doubt be in immaculate condition as Summercraft were always very well maintained and turned out.
  11. Hi Malcom, I can`t say about Moonlight Shadow as i`m not an owner, but whenever we have Lightning taken out and maintained, they always valet her as part of the process. Helen has said she`s sorted the issue so i won`t comment any further.
  12. From one extreme to the other, hopefully, in 5 weeks, things would have settled a bit.
  13. And ideal for the southern rivers. With the high top, you won`t have any hassles with bridges on the south rivers, accept for Somerleyton swing bridge if not operational, and Beccles is very likely to be a no go, unless you have very low low tides.
  14. We took over a boat that had`nt been cleaned, but that was because the boat we`d originally hired was`nt suitable for various reasons, and the one we eventually took over had only just come back in and not had a chance to be turned around properly. We agreed that we`d clean it, but they were prepared to do it for us, but we needed to get going. It was also a bit more expensive than the one we hired, so they did`nt charge us any more because we said we`d clean it. They did do the engine checks and fill up with water and fuel though.
  15. If that was us finding that, i`d be charging BCBM for failing to oversee that other members are sticking to the rules. It`s what you pay your management fee for. I know cleaning is down to the previous owner, but should it NOT be up to scratch, then it might be under your contract, seeing as she`s a "managed boat", BCBM could hold some responsibilty. At least then they can levy a fee to the owners who left it dirty through their fee`s and discounting yours in return. Either way, i`d definitely be letting them know it WAS`NT left in the condition as layed out in your rules.
  16. Hi all, I`ve just seen on their faceache page, Pacific Cruisers have now added a new boat "Pacific Spirit" which is an Aquafibre 32 high top dual steer. She has a double cabin en suite, a twin cabin fwd, and a double sette with a single settee in the salloon, though max occupancy is set at 6. Good to see this very friendly and excellent small family yard increasing their fleet, which is a good thing for those that wish to hire on the southern rivers.
  17. Yeah, we`ll never be happy. Seriously though, you explained to me what was keeping the tides high in another thread, is this because of the winds coming from the west, as i would have thought that would be pushing yet MORE water up into the channel and round the top of Scotland converging in the North Sea, thus causing more flooding on the rivers?. That`s exactly what happened when Karen and i took Lightning out for the first time in October 14, result?, 2ft over the quay heading at Beccles Yacht Station.
  18. And that above explains in a nutshell why a so many of us, and there are, are so mistrustful of Packman and his "harmless" BNP signs and promotion. If we don`t fight the signs and promotion "inch", then the Broads becoming a full NP will become Packmans "mile". We`ve all been warned, so let`s not be apathetic about an inch, and then blame everybody else for the final mile when it`s too late.
  19. "May be, may be"?, i think that`s where he`ll be for a couple of days till the storm blows over?.
  20. That`s blatant misquoting marshy . The use of speech marks is for definite quoting of what another has definitely said or written, where as JM says, I don`t see any claim to numbers or percentages etc.
  21. Oh dear, first casualty of the wind, one of our garden gnomes is flat on his back, though I suspect this might be the result of him being in the pub last night with Howard (Norfolk Nog)? 😂😂.
  22. I was told many years back that to be officially called a hurricane it must blow constantly at 90+mph for a minimum 30 minute period. In 87, it did'nt blow 90mph constantly, even though around the south and south east coasts, gusts of up to 120mph were recorded, so Michael Fish was right, it WAS'NT a hurricane.
  23. Hi Helen, if you're concerned about being blown about, take MS down the dyke and tie alongside, at least you will be safer. I'm sure the occupants won't mind.
  24. Hi Helen, Did Lightning go out today?, her new mooring is right in front of the engineers shed at the head of your dyke?.
  25. Getting up down here in East Dorset, maybe along the coast it could be "refreshing"?.
