  1. Hi to you all, Although I rarely post on the forum I read with interest many of the topics debated. I thought it may be of interest to others that own and maintain a wooden boat that at Wayford there is a company that is specialising in the repair and maintenance of wooden boats. They can be contacted via E Mail at broadlandclassicboats@aol.com I used some of their services and expertise last year when Missouri Star was taken out for the usual paintwork etc. Was please with the service and price!!!! IF interested contact them, I have no involvement with them other than being impressed with what they offer. Steve
  2. Hi Doug Nipper looking good. Jax and I are down Sunday if you need ballast I'm your man. Text Jax if you need help.
  3. HI Dave Please reserve a mooring for Missouri Star, we both look forward to meeting up again. Great fun last year, YOU will have a boat there this year we assume? Steve
  4. Dear JanetAnne please thank your humans for organising such a brilliant weekend .We met lovely people ,looked on some beautiful boats and picked up loads of tips and ideas for more work ! well done it couldn't have been better , looking forward to more events in the future, Jax
  5. Thanks to you all, in the end they parked at the yacht station and were able to pay by phone each day. This was just as well as in the end they enjoyed it so much they stayed with us until we returned to the Northern Broads. Many thanks to you all, especially Jenny Morgan for his very kind offer which shows how friendly this site can be. Happy boating to all, lets make sure the site always stays this thoughtful to all its members and guests. Steve
  6. Many thanks for all the kind replies , some great ideas there for us . 2 more sleeps then 2 whole weeks away !! Jax
  7. Hi to all, We are taking Missouri Star across the great divide and are heading "south" next weekend. Whilst there we are hoping to have visitors for two or three days who will arrive by car, and there lies the problem!. Where would the best place to arrange to meet them and where to leave their car. Any suggestions gratefully received. We can then plan a route to show them some of the sights of the southern broads taking in either the Beccles area or Norwich but probably not both due to the time allowed. Thanks in anticipation. Steve
  8. Sorry to hear your bad news Jon. Hope to pop in and see you soon. Keep up the good work Steve
  9. Thanks for help, think it will be at Beccles and public transport to pick the car up. Thanks again Steve
  10. Hi All We are planning to come "south" for a few days starting next Saturday but have now hit a problem. Due to a bereavement will have to return home on the Thursday 17/7/14 for the funeral. This means that we will have to travel back to Kent on the Wednesday and return again to the boat on the Friday. Our car will be at Womack where we moor. Does anybody know of a place we can leave the boat for a couple of days safely whilst we are away and also a cheapish way of getting from where we leave the boat to pick up the car and drop it back off on our return? Any ideas would be gratefully received Steve
  11. Hi All We are also responsible for keeping Jon busy. Had Missouri Star in the DIY shed again for the last 3 weeks, repainting and other tasks. The yard seemed as busy as ever, boats in and out, sales, repainting and all manner of general comings and goings. If only the days were longer and the team had more arms then they may keep up with the demands!! It was good to renew friendships with those at the yard and to meet the newer crew members. As always it was a pleasure to be there and our thanks go out to all for their help, advice and banter Keep it up, WE WILL BE BACK Steve
  12. HI Jon, Is that all you can fit into a day? Will be up with you shortly , looking forward to it, please no poking your finger through the hull this time! Carry on the good work Ye lazie bogger!

  16. Hi All we moored outside The Bridge at Acle last night, and were blissfully unaware of how high the tide had been until we headed back to Womack 10am this morning and had to report to BA that we had seen a boat half on the quay heading, 100m past the shop, that looked as if it could capsize as the water levels dropped. They were sending someone out to check on it. We both had a lovely nights sleep, being Mrs paranoid I would have been up worrying all night if I'd known! Jax
  17. HI John the news doors look great and hopefully your head will too ! I can safely leave my first aid kit behind at the next meet now then. Jax
  18. Hi Carol thanks for posting all this fascinating stuff, I started reading it last night, then went onto your website and sat up until some ungodly hour! Our boat was built in 1932 and is pretty original inside, it's amazing to think she survived the 2nd world war, many years as a hire boat, & now us. I wish she could talk! just off to find my sleeping apparrel for the weekend afloat, can't see Steve in his knockabout suit tho' ...... Jax

  22. Big Fish ! Little fish ! Any fish ! As you can guess I do enjoy fishing but aren't too fussy about what eats my bait, as long as it a fish I'm happy Steve
  23. Hi Barry just wanted to say how much we are enjoying seeing your restoration with you, lots of hard work, head scratching and anticipation ahead (not least from us when ours comes out of the water in September, you're making us nervous !) but she will be stunning i'm sure, thanks for taking the time to keep everyone up to date with progress, all the best Jax
