in all honesty Matt, I think it's a lot more than that. As I said, we're using a lot less electric, but paying double for it. It's almost 3 - 4 times the price, or so it seems. Maybe it's time for the BA to be made publically accountable?.
No it really is 40% increase

I generally whip the Dyson round until it's all used up!
-
I make the cost per unit increase 40%.
what makes me laugh (and I am no different) is that we all spend a great deal of money on boats but begrudge leaving 10p on the metre for the next boat!

And I believe not within 50m of a vessel that is not under your control.

We used to have a share in evening shadow before moving over to Thunder- it's a lovely boat and we had many enjoyable weeks onboard her. When we sold our share after 4 years of use we got the money back that we paid for it. We picked up a number of spare weeks see by their owners and after those 4 years and having sold it I worked out that each week had cost us less now £300.
If you are buying a four week share I would suggest doing your costs on 3 weeks use per year- a number of people don't use their Winter allocation.
In terms of questions to ask my big one would be what's in the the bank account? You are not just buying an 8% share of a boat but also an 8% share of the bank account. Thunder has over £4K in the bank at the moment which would go some way to offestting any bad news that would be received!
my other question would be you need to work out what the boat would be like for out of season cruising to get the most out of syndicate ownership. From memory ES has electric plugs in every cabin so you can run a small electric radiator but the sliding canopy was never draught proof!
Thunder has a Facebook page where we put all of our costs and other info on it that would be of any use- https://m.facebook.com/thundersyndicate/

Plenty to agree with above. During the "season" we don't worry bout electric posts- it's a nice to have if it is there. However during the colder periods very useful to run some electric heating!

We had incident with a sailing club a couple of weeks ago. A number of sailing boats going backwards and forwards across the river and a "safety boat" tied up to the bank. We tentitvley hold back and in the absence of any direction we approach. As we pass the moored "safety boat" they ask us to go back and wait as they are about to start a race! At which point one of the sailors is shouting at us to move through!
Great fun

Personally I'm a big fan of the WRC and the menu with its varying portion sizes is very much to my liking ;-)

Go with the flow indeed.......
week before last we drove up tohave a look at the Horsey seals and stopped to see the windmill restoration on our return. There was a hireboat of some 35 foot up at the end of the dyke trying to reverse back down the dyke between England moored boats. I offered to help walk them down using a rope "no it's okay they told us this boat steers in reverse".
Of course it does.......
i bought an ice cream, sat down and enjoyed the entertainment

I must agree with you matt, we are still only charging 110p per litre . perhaps we should price match the other hire yards,
Well at Brooms we pay £1.03 as we moor there........

Beccles for me.............

Toll up 20%.....
Electric post costs up 40%........
Diesel prices starting to creep back up........
3 moorings that were free BA 24 hour moorings now have fees to be paid locally......
Fuel prices to get there in the first place creeping up further........
Overnight stay at the Waveney River Centre the same price as it has been for years

Posts on facebook suggest there is now a charge to moor at Woodbastwick- £4 during the day, £8 overnight........

That's because the price per unit has risen from 15p on the old posts to 21p on the new ones.
Ah the good old BA standard rate of inflation of 40% has been applied......

I can honestly say it felt like the £1 was used up far quicker than last year........

By all accounts the Broads Authority have advised the tourist centers to swap the old cards, how this will work in practice is anyone's guess.
Regards
Alan
I walked in and said "can I exchange my old cards for the new cards?". She said "yes" and we exchanged.
Simples!!
