  1. Official update:

Over the last month we have carried out essential upgrades to the meters at the points and work is now almost complete.

After installing and programming the last few sites all Broads Authority electric charging points will be open to the public for use by Friday 31 March. We apologise for any inconvenience.

New, contactless cards will be available through all the usual outlets. (Previous cards are all printed with 28 February 2017 as the cut-off date.)

The meters indicate where to hold your card in order to transfer the credit to the meter. The cards are for single use only.

  2. Found an update on the BA website:

Broads Authority moorings, electric pillar meter upgrade, update 17 March 2017

Work has been progressing well with the new meter installation programme. The original plan to open the upgraded electric pillars to the public is still in on track. The full completion date remains 31 March 2017. Please note that the new-style contactless cards will not be available to the public until work is fully completed on all sites, and also fully tested. Please check this page for updates. Full details will be published as soon as cards are available for purchase. Thank you for your patience and we apologise for any inconvenience during these essential works.

For further details please call the Broads Authority tolls office on 01603 756080 or email tolls@broads-authority.gov.uk.

  3. I believe Mandy from Moonlight Shadow is a member on here but their share was recently advertised around on Facebook- see screen shot.

So on Thunder we have school holiday shares but there are none for sale at the moment although feel free to ask on our Facebook page- https://m.facebook.com/thundersyndicate/

we have one of the said holiday shares and we always see Mandy on Moonlight so they must be able to swap regularly!

  4. I never really understand why a number of people tell newbies not to travel down south on their first week (no wonder the south is losing yards!).

there really is nothing to fear if you do your homework or read the handbook onboard. In August there could be 100 boats making that journey on any one day!

I can't understand why a very experienced boat builder would decide to introduce a new boat which is going to have so many restrictions in where you can go with it.

Surely with all their expertise they should be able to fit all the luxuries you want into a hull size which would allow the boat to travel over the whole of the navigable area.

Is it not more that they can't sell them so they are hiring them instead?

Ruby tuesday at least has been up for sale for yonks.

  6. I understand that an owner onboard Thunder was iced in at Oulton last week and had to leave her there. Slightly problematic in that this week and next were put aside for Winter maintenance but Brooms recovered her yesterday (I don't know how....).

I am reliably informed that temperatures will be double figures after the weekend.

  7. I tey and do most of my own stuff and have become quite good at replacing random bits of my heating system.

Now though I need a builder to build an extension and knock a big hole in the wall which is a bit beyond me. It's going to be great fun.....
