  1. I don’t believe RNLI (or indeed anybody beyond Police, Fire & Ambulance) actually need to have training to use blue lights they don’t have a speeding exemption.
  2. We have spent some amazing times at Ranworth. There was one time we even got a big game of cricket with at least 20 people playing over the course of an evening- my kids still talk about it. There is nowhere around there that we have not been and spent money - the Granary, the shop, the pub, the wildlife centre, the church tea rooms, even walked up to Fairhaven gardens and tea room on occasion. But in an increasingly expensive world where our discretionary spending is already being squeezed a mooring fee on top of the money we would spend whilst we are there makes it an expensive choice and probably means we will just give it a miss.
  3. We have turned 43ft of boat down Upton Dyke, it was blooming tight but she went round!
  4. “a” church. So any church? 😃
  5. It doesn’t say what Parish…..
  6. We cross over a bit with our week on Thunder so if I see you I will come say hello 😃 I reckon 8 (sensible) owners is the perfect number 😃
  7. Whatever…..😂 we are still going and it’s still the same!
  8. April to October which I guess means Easter to October half term which is around 200 days. £500 every single day. I guess its possible. I notice it’s “revenue”. Collecting that money is not going to be cost free….
  9. Apart from a couple of day stops during covid we just don’t pay to moor there. Mudweight and dinghy/paddle board does just fine. we won’t pay to stop at Ranworth. Spending money is a balance- we just have better things to spend our money on. And as for Reedham the mooring at the mouth of the Chet always have space and is a lovely place in the summer 😃
  10. Indeed. If I can get Thunder in there without going to the bottom and turning then anything is possible!
  11. @oldgreggthats one of the blue ones 😉
  12. We are fortunate enough to have two weeks onboard Thunder every year. As everything becomes more expensive out discretionary spend just gets squeezed that little bit more. A few years ago we would have ate out at least 3 times a week. Last summer it was once. We can’t be the only family taking such measures and I just can’t see how this is beneficial for the Broads or indeed the economy in general. if it was, say £10 to moor at Ranworth on top of a meal in the Malsters then we just won’t go.
  13. And charging to moor at Ranworth and Reedham….
  14. If memory serves me correctly there are two taps so one at the front and one at the back! Or one on each side and nothing on the front or back…..
  15. Those taps on the back of the post must catch so many people out! Took me a while to find them but I had seen somebody else fill up so I knew they worked 😂
  16. How long did it take you to agree on what prop to get?! took us about 12 months 😂
  17. Thanks all. Fridge runs off the domestic batteries and the immersion heater is shore power only. As @oldgreggeludes to people have a perception that syndicate boats are well used every week and to an extent they are but Thunder at least doesn’t seem to go far! The engine hours suggest under 4 hrs a day cruising on average so getting the charge into the batteries can be a problem. The 240volt side just seems to be a bit of a problem side at the moment. She has a Victron Atlas 12/1600 inverter which is from her hire days, so over 11/12 years old.
  18. Thank you very much - that was indeed the one I expected you to have fitted! Our current one is indeed a modified sine wave with a low voltage cut off at 10 volts (I am not aware of any other battery protection fitted) and so suspect this is what is shortening the life of the batteries- they are almost an annual replacement over the last 3 years! thanks everyone for their input.
  19. Can I ask what model inverter you had put into ES? I appreciate someone on this forum will read this and smile but we have chewed through another set of inverter batteries in record time! Having taken the panel off and looked at Thunder’s inverter it might be time to upgrade……..
  20. Jamaica has appeared on the market fresh off of hire by the looks of it Boatshed
  21. Just be careful of the metal piling! It can be rather difficult do dislodge a string magnet from it…..so I’m told. best I have done so far is rhond anchor!
  22. Greece for me as well. We were planning on a Greek sailing flotilla holiday but Covid got in the way. I’m sure we will he there one day.
