  1. Hi Highlander,

You`ll probably find the rangers being rushed off their feet sitting in their expensive toll payed for launch using a toll payed for speed gun to catch those violent offenders doing 4 1/2 mph in a 4mph limit :River Police :River Police two guns two guns.

"Toll payed" for launches and speed guns- How else should they be paid for?

  2. My Brammerton experience last month:

Sat-leave Brundall arrive Brammerton around 4pm. Moorings full (the odd gap but nothing excessive). Make note of the boats around the electric post (all private). Return and mudweight on Surlingham.

Sunday AM-visit Whittlingham in the morning. Boats at Brammerton electric post are unmoved.

Sunday PM-return to Brammerton and moor up. 3 boats on the electric post are still the same. Moorings soon fill up and a new Richardsons cruiser looks to moor around 6pm. We move up as much as possible (within about 2 foot to boat behind) and 3 other boats move up and they squeeze in.

Monday am-we leave moorings around 10am. The same three private boats are still on the electric post that we saw at 4pm on the Saturday.

They could have moved off at 5pm Saturday and returned at 9am Sunday and moored in the exactly the same places for all I know but unlikely IMHO.

If the same situation arrises in the future I will take some photos and let the BA have them.

  3. Only Roy would know how the dinghies were moored on the day there but moving tied up dinghies from a boat that can't moor is not easy! And whilst I am happy to approach anybody to ask questions some people are not and you only have to read other threads on why people would not want to ask.

  4. I would have thought it best to fill up at Goodchilds on your return leg, as they were reported as being the cheapest on the broads. Then when you get back to Brooms, just fill up a gallon or so.

Incidentally Matt, we`re on Lightning for the first time in October (18-25th), will you be aboard then?.

Broom is £1.20 and Goodchilds was a bit of the way so I would probably have used more getting there than we would have saved.

I have had my 2 allocated weeks this year so that's me done until Easter.

  5. Just got back from a 4 day short break..

60 quid fuel deposit, engine only went over 1000 revs when I was on barton broad otherwise it sat at 8-900....

Just got £28 and some pence back....... 4 days cruising for about £8 per day...

    :Stinky

Just back from an 11 day break and spent £102. Brundall-Beccles-Salhouse-Brundall. Amazing what difference filling up at Boulters and Brooms can do!

  6. One of the shared boats skippers walked up to us and asked could we help him bring his boat back with us as he was terrified to stay where he was any longer. I think much longer there and we would all have been in for counselling , both hirers and privateers.

    Was it Thunder?!

It's our turn tomorrow but having a school holiday share this is just the norm!!!

  7. Hi Strow,

There`s been many many incidents and occurrancies in the past where the emergency services "proffessionalism" ha been called into question, and when you read the article where it states that emergency services of different kinds had come from the Suffolk coast, as far away as Essex, and with numerous fire appliances in attendance, it makes me (and some others) ask the question "what were all they doing there", when local services such as Police, along with thier marine rescue unit or the Broads based RNLI service, and the Ambulance service should have been sufficient, and dare i say it, a more efficient use of the publics emergency services.

That in itself questions their proffesionalism.

Regards to all, and wearing my crash helmet ready for replies ................. Neil.

If your house was on fire and you were trapped inside would you like the police to attend to deal with any possible offences, and control access to a potential crime scene? Would you like the ambulance personal there to treat you if you were recovered from the house? Would you want several fire engines there to try and put the fire out before it spreads? Would you like the fire brigades aerial platform to tackle the fire from above? Would you like the specialist fire brigades search and rescue to turn up and use their specialist equipment to search the house? When it comes to physically searching the house would you prefer one fireman to do it or several?

Because at the end of the day one fire engine would eventually put the fire and out one fireman would eventually search the house.
