  1. Facebook comments are in the post linked above. Reads like by the time they were flagged down the lifeboat was almost on scene so they waited for their arrival.
  2. According to a post on Facebook by a passing boater who was flagged down by them at 18:45 the boat was “pretty much sunk with just the bow somehow lodged into the bank”
  3. I had two weeks in a Villa in Rhodes last month for a similar price* to which NBD were asking last minute for a weekend on one of their newest and finest…… *excluding flights

    St Olaves Bridge!

Could have been worse….. Coastguard callout
  5. Once when hiring from Hearts in Thorpe we got about an hour up the river and thought it was time to put the kettle on and found no cutlery tray. Managed to get a signal so rang them. They duly popped out with the cutlery. has said cup of tea and a short while later the toilet was used only to find it wouldn’t flush. Rang them again and out they popped to open the stopcock. It was Easter so I guess we were the first hired of the season!
  6. Blue light card also gets you a small discount at Pedro’s in Acle.
  7. Went through 1 hour after slack this morning north to south. Boat in front of us initially went to turn before the yellow post but assume they then saw the big sign so turned back. But by that point we’re too close to said yellow post giving it a rather big thump causing damage to rear starboard side. They then turned left and were heading for sea……several honks of the horn later and a bit of gesticulating got them back on track but even then watching the tide carry them towards the bridge at Breydon as they turned convinced me to aim for closer to slack water on the return journey!
  8. Thunder once had a 20amp charger. It was never enough and was replaced with a 50amp. Should have asked Vaughan first 😃
  9. Interesting video on the link below….. Presume the the tide had dropped away leaving them up there? Hemsby life boat
  10. saw this one on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/1596495563962129/permalink/3009028276042177/?sale_post_id=3009028276042177
  11. My inlaws have just had an air source heat pump system installed using the green homes grant. This is a full system installed into an 1800s single brick house! No gas supply in the town and it’s replacing open coal fire and wood burner. Radiators are quite large and triple. Time will tell if the heat is enough come winter but I suspect the wood burner will be needed on the colder days. It’s heats the water also and I couldn’t hear the outside fan running.
  12. Bill, having personally seen how much time effort (and no doubt money!) you have put into your craft over the years I am sure she will be a fantastic purchase for somebody. the Diamond 35s are a lovely boat.
  13. Totally agreed. I cant deny that me and the Mrs had a fairly long conversation about BAs share but with the kids still in school the opportunity to use more than the 2 weeks Thunder gives us is not really there.
  14. Indeed. We were surprised to see it but pleased to have had the first one. I think i saw that 55% of the population tested positive for anti-bodies in the latest NAO testing.
  15. The local vaccination centre moved to over 40's walk in at the weekend :-) Queue took about 60mins.
  16. This is the link to the College of Policing guide as to what the Police can enforce as it is in the law. https://paas-s3-broker-prod-lon-6453d964-1d1a-432a-9260-5e0ba7d2fc51.s3.eu-west-2.amazonaws.com/s3fs-public/2021-03/covid-19-step-1-england-290321.pdf
  17. For the avoidance of any doubt can you please confirm what is "official government" guidelines if it is not the Health Protection Regulations that were laid before parliament yesterday?

    Day Boats

And now amended to the 29th March..... https://www.broads-authority.gov.uk/news/coronavirus-covid-19 Self drive day hire DEFRA has further clarified (as of 22 March) that day hire boat businesses will be permitted to open from 29 March, subject to COVID-19 Secure Guidance and the applicable social contact limits at each step of the roadmap. This supersedes the previous guidance about 'click and collect' only, and is subject to a proposed change in the regulations, which has been laid in Parliament on 22 March. The Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (Steps) (England) Regulations 2021 have now been signed and published here on legislation.gov.uk. The regulations will be debated in Parliament on Thursday, 25 March, alongside the 1-year review of the Coronavirus Act, with the Commons debate due to start at 10:30am. Recreational day hire will therefore be permitted for a single household or bubble (if vessel is enclosed), or for up to 6 people / or any number of people from 2 households per boat (if vessel is open air, provided it is outdoors and social distancing can be maintained between people from different households). People should continue to minimise travel where possible and avoid travelling at busy times/routes.
  19. +1 for Surlingham/Bargate. I reckon it’s my favourite overnight mudweight..... Sent from my iPhone using Norfolk Broads Network

  21. Plenty of boats wild moored up the Thurne this week and last night even a couple of boats moored to the banks between Neatishead and Gayes Staithe but it is really busy! Sent from my iPhone using Norfolk Broads Network
  22. Up on Thunder in a few weeks and fully expecting to spend a few nights on the mudweight! Sent from my iPhone using Norfolk Broads Network
  23. You can also notice the current slows you down a fair bit as you pass under where it narrows. Sent from my iPhone using Norfolk Broads Network
  24. And all because the positive results of their Pillar 1 testing went from Two between 13-19th June to THREE between 20-26th June. Sent from my iPhone using Norfolk Broads Network
  25. We also seem to have lost the ability to take personal responsibility for our own actions! I don’t have to go to a pub or restaurant from the 4th July just because it is open but if i do it’s my choice and my decision. Due onboard Thunder in a month. I am perfectly happy to make my own decisions on where to moor and go and take any mitigating actions I see fit. Sent from my iPhone using Norfolk Broads Network
