  2. Not quite sure Helen but you could ring them & check-01603 628148 Alan
  3. Was told about this pub by a good friend friend who said the beer was excellent and the food home cooked and very good so on our trip to Norwich over the last two days we called in for a beer-really great pint in an unusual brewery pub- Batemans of Lincolnshire, Howard you would love it. Having read the menu we decided to return for an eariy evening meal the following day- what a good decision that was. I had liver & bacon with mustard mash and two veg- £6. Mags had fish pie new potatoes & two veg-6.95. Wiggy had home cooked roast ham two eggs and chips-£6.95. We all thre ate for under £20 and the food was excellent. Cannot recomend this place highly enough if you like genuine home cooked food in a very old traditional English Pub. The address is The Champion Pub, 101 Chapelfield Rd. Norwich NR2 1SE. To get there walk up St Stephens Rd past Chapelfields shopping centre and the shops until you reach the roundabout with Chapelfields Rd, go under the underpass and take the Chapelfield Rd exit and the pub is 50yds up on the left.Food served between 12 and 3 and 6 and 8 daily. Happy hour between 5 and 7. Jackie is the landlady helped by her twin sister Kelly, well worth a visit Boycee
  4. Our thoughts are with you & your family John Boycee & Mags
  5. Rather feed you for a day than a week Boycee
  6. Reliably informed earlier from my mate who moors at Johnsons who saw it all that it was on a rising tide and it took 15 volunteers to board the craft to push it down in the water and free it from the bridge- appparently didn't do the roof a lot of good Boycee
  7. You spending a fiver Griff-bet Mrs G couldn't believe it Boycee
  8. Sorry JM dont agree withyour assessment of The Lady of the Lake. We ate there last week and the food was excellent and very reasonably priced. The chef is the person who was previously at The Waveney for a long time and their reputation for good food was and is well known. Equally I dont think that people who use The Lady of the Lake should be termed "cattle class.! Incidentally the place is spotlessly clean and serves good beer and Im sure that Tony the landlord would not be happy to hear your description of his pub Boycee

    Norwich

Hi Andy We go to Norwich at least twice a year staying two nights on each occassion and always moor in the Yacht Station- never had any problems. Either on the way in or out you can moor on the posts between Carrow Bridge and Brittania Bridge for a couple of hours so you dont have to carry your Morrisons shopping so far. From the Yacht Station we walk over Bishops Bridge and through the Cathederal grounds into town. Plenty of good shopping and excellent pubs/restaurants- we like The Lamb, St Andrews Brewhouse and Wetherspoons Glass House-all who do good pub grub and excellent beer, not forgetting The Ribs of Beef, which if you go under Bishops Bridge you can moor at if its available, for a beer. Hope you enjoy your visit but be aware the mooring free in Norwich Yacht Station is £13 per night, including free showers & water Cheers Boycee
  10. Glad your'e ok Charlie- just goes to show it can happen to even experienced boaters like you. Hope the bruises and strains go quickly Boycee
  11. Thank you Jonzo-sorry if it has caused you a problem Boycee
  12. Alan, mine too is an android tablet and I remain logged on permanently- dont see how I log on will change things as my screen comes up as per Jonzo's description screen. The list has obviously been drastically reduced and a lot of the old favourites have disappeared-pity really as some really funny emoticons have gone Boycee
  13. Thanks Grendel & deebee - guess you'll let us know when the refinements are completed Boycee
  14. When I read posts with Emoticons attatched all I see are words describing the Emoticon ie "clap" "welcome" "cheers" etc. Also when I go to add emoticons to a message a complete new set appear with no options or any of my history of recently used ones and a limited menu of one option ie Main. I have not changed any settings on my tablet so is this a technical fault with the server -Any ideas our tech team? This started occuring a couple of days ago Boycee
  15. The Ferry House Surlingham has reserved moorings which are well used Boycee
  16. Just had an email from my friend who lives in Oulton Broad that The Wherry Webcam is back on line even though it appears to be stuck on our favourite watering hole, Broadview Wine Bar. The link is the same as before ie www.norfolklive.org so perhaps Alan can add it back to the webcam list Boycee
  17. Sad news indeed. Our condolences go to her family she will be sadly missed Boycee
  18. Yes it does John as far as I'm aware Alan
  19. Hi Simon & Kate and welcome to the forum. In response to your questions I would recomend you to try:- Insurance:- GJW Direct of Liverpool. Tel 0151 473 8000 Breakdown cover supplier:- Sutton Staithe Boatyard. Tel 01692 581653. Rob Frearson launched this new service in January and is offering a very competitve deal following the purchase of a boat more than capable of doing the job required Boycee
  20. Great log Tim and all done without one hesitation in your presenting Boycee
  21. I was told last week from a reliable source that the moorings have reverted back to the Hall and a £5 overnight fee is payable collected by a Hall employee Boycee
  22. Mags & I have just returned from paying our last respects to Hank our long time friend. He would have really appreciated it I'm certain as around 30 of his family & friends stood on Ludham Bridge, his favourite spot on the Broads, all blowing bubbles before a bugle player played the Last Post and we all adjourned to The Dog Inn for an excellent buffet lunch and great beer. His wife Sue has said that the NBO forum will now close over the next few weeks in memory of Hank. Both Griff & myself have asked her & Pete Marr to join us on the NBN which I hope they will do-only downside of the day was Griffs jokes! Boycee
