Broad Ambition - The Model

So still waiting for the drill bits, the problem is that these are so specialised you cant just walk in a shop and ask for some, even the expensive sources take over a week delivery- even amazon cant get any to me quicker than 22nd August, radiospares has some, but I can buy 10 for the price they are charging for 1, I am not paying over a fiver for 1 drill bit that can break if you look at it too hard, when I already have 30 on order for £7 total,

now I have seen it all 2 for £23, ridiculous, but they could get it to me next saturday - did I say they were like hens teeth, I reckon a hen could peck a hole in the stainless quicker than they can deliver them.

I could sit and whinge all day, the will arrive when they arrive.

I haven't even done the morse control yet MM

In an earlier post you said model #1 was seaworthy.  How can it be seaworthy with no operational morse control pray tell? :default_icon_e_confused:

Griff

Ok just for the smart Alec who complained at the lack of Morse controls, this morning I present the morse control, 3d printed body, chromed with my magic chrome pen, and a brass handle, drilling a 2mm hole through 3mm brass bar, well that was fun, 0.8mm pilot hole, then drilled at 1.9mm, 2mm machine screw self tapped through, then mounted to the body. if anyone wants to supply me with a 3mm dia wooden knob drilled and tapped for M1.6mm, then please go ahead, in fact best make me 2 in case I drop one.

this afternoon I decided to have a look at the ballasting, so up in the bath it went, along with a selection of spare batteries. it needed remarkably little ballast in the heads section to bring the bow down until the boot topping was nicely centered around the waterline at the bow.

Here is what the model (#1) looks like today, she is not going to change much before Beccles now. bench tidying next, and then model #2 will come down and sit on the bench.

After that I will be sorting out the bits that will need to come with me to the show.

this wasnt going to be shown if it didnt work, but it did, so we have replaced the skipper, and he is clothed, a mammoth 12 hours was required to print this, and that was after the first one failed due to a micro SD card in my printer failing half way through, that one was more solid, and finer detail (thinner layers).

then we needed to paint it, I only had the 3 basic colours, so everything else had to be mixed to suit.

I think we should be ok on the teak carpet, as most of that is tucked away down below in the cabins. we have the blue fender, but only for use when Robin is skippering.

lights, I havent done the lights yet, but their battery will be charged from the solar panel (yes its a working solar panel). I should be able to get a suitable string of lights - maybe at christmas time :-)
