MauriceMynah
I know this is going to sound stupid but there seem to be conflicting views on the size of my boat. (well, what did you think I meant?) According to Craig's database, it is 26' 9" long by 9' beam, where I always thought it was 27' by 9' 6". Where does the BA get dimensions from? Bound2Please
Well according to the BA Bound 2 Please is, taken from the registration document as I type 8.22 length x 2.74 beam..... So not sure what measurement is correct then John or what tape measure???? Charlie
TheQ
As for length the Elysian was designed as a 26 footer but as several other boats were released about the same time they leant the stern back 4 inches and added 3 more inches to the hull so that gives 26ft 7in. Width, is one with and the other without the added rubbing strips? see here...http://www.elysianboats.co.uk/#/elysian-history/4566046244 and BA will always want the bigger one, unless you can prove otherwise ... more money for them... johnm
I believe that Craig's measurements are taken from the builders original details wherever possible. The details that the BA have are those that the vessel was first registered with and so will depend on the accuracy (or otherwise) of the details provided by the person originally registering the vessel. I guess the ultimate answer is to take a tape to her and see what results you get. If they are less than those registered: a. hop across the dyke and have a word with John! b. ask the BA to correct their records. Although in that case you may need to fork out for a surveyor to provide verified measurements and in which case it may be cheaper in the long run to do nothing
TheQ
Of course you need real measurements from the boat builders not their brochure which shows 27ft.... And if you prove it is smaller let the rest of the Elysian owners know... like me... Please
SteveO
You should know very well by now, MM, that it's not the size of what you've got, but what you do with it that matters. Steve
JanetAnne
I suspect some of these boat dimensions were measured with the same tape measure a well known trimmers used when they measured my canopy
