My milometer stopped working earlier this year, stuck on 199920. Is a stopped milo an MOT fail? if so I have two weeks to sort it.

No worries there MM it's isn't a testable item so no chance of a fail. Even if the speedo itself wasn't working we would have a job to notice it in most cases as a roadtest isnt a standard part of the test.

Incidentally the Mot test manual is available for anyone to see online, should you wish to have a nosey. I tried to do a link but couldnt get it to work, sorry.

I sailed on Norada from How Hill to Stalham. As we stormed  across Barton and were a bit early we went up past Hunsett to a turning hole and then retraced our course. Beautiful day but were hit with rainy squalls  as we entered Stalham Dyke.

Norada will be at The Museum of the Broads over this Heritage Weekend  and then return to How Hill. On Thursday I will be aboard when she returns to Barton House at Wroxham, with Ludham Bridge to pass under then all the way to Wroxham it promises to be a long day!20180907_095804.thumb.jpg.9dfcec5d838333a89d8baf3eb0b96838.jpg20180907_095947.thumb.jpg.15fa932cd352111b23dd9bd20176f8bf.jpg20180907_100349.thumb.jpg.f1914b3fc81061b0012f77c674886a29.jpg20180907_110507.thumb.jpg.6954b27fd5bbca733485b6d11e887713.jpg20180907_111223.thumb.jpg.d81bfea9dfb1cd6f86a43f37f30673b7.jpg20180907_111235.thumb.jpg.c4060bace5e38b41f7530aff8602ec28.jpg

well my weekend was a busy one, on saturday i decided to go to the Southern Model Show that day rather than Sunday (a fortuitous decision as it turned out) after spending a fortune on the trade stands, getting parts required to finish the second model of BA, and some other bits too, I came home, an inkling of what was about to happen was given when my daughter shut the oven door and managed to trip the electricity in the house.

after that I had a network hub playing up, it wasnt coming back up live after the powwer being off, so a temporary jury rig with a 15m network cable got me back in business, a new hub is being procured today.

after fixing the hub I didnt have time for tea, having an astronomy meeting that evening, Ah I thought I will pop into the Macdonalds on the way to the meeting, when I  got there it was shut as they were rebuilding it. so onward I proceeded to my astronomy meeting.

fortune favoured me there, as one of the members had hired the hall for the afternoon to celebrate his wedding anniversary, and there was cake- lots of cake - you were not allowed to move until you had consumed cake.

on arriving home at 10pm, I find the house in darkness, my daughters voice informs me it went out at 8pm and they have been in darkness since, tried resetting the trip - no joy - ok remembering the earlier issues, I went and switched the cooker off at the wall, thank goodness its a double pole isolator, as this brings the rest of the house back online.

Sunday morning bright and early (10.15) and I am outside Currys waiting for the place to open at 10.30, this is the only shop in the area that shows stock available for cookers, in the end I choose one - a 50cm wide one, not great but it gets us out of trouble, that gets loaded in the car, and taken home where it is fitted, the old one is straight down the tip, its done 10 years, and already had a replacement oven element, so its no use anymore. then I find none of my baking trays and some of my pyrex dishes dont fit into the new oven, so its back off shopping for baking trays.

what a weekend, busy doesnt quite hit the description.

my day so far. stuck in the traffic on the M25, so nearly late getting to work, (normally I am over an hour early for my start time) as I walk through the door, one of the managers calls me over to discuss the drawings I did on a job we did in 2015. an hour and a half later, I get to my desk.

Lunch Time, I have just started eating my lunch and browsing this website, when in walks the area manager with a BSI audit team, to discuss some of the work that I do, and show them the procedures and processes we use, cue hunting for files and odd pieces of paper for an hour as we produce the evidence needed to prove we comply with our procedures and verify one of our contractors compliance with our procedures. and sigh, and relax, I feel like I have done my days work already

20180913_104627.thumb.jpg.2437d8128fa539ad8e4417e64ff55f0f.jpgToday was my last wherry trip fom How Hill on Norada, returning to base at Barton House, Wroxham. As you will see from the pictures it was a good trip for wherry watching! Ardea came past us like a train just past Salhouse. She had left GY at 0830 but she was and had made use of her diesel as winds were not favourable sailing west today. Also past Broad Ambition between HowHill and Ludham Bridge.20180913_102811.thumb.jpg.fe7ae4ce4286c1e3ef2596a2c70f9e8f.jpg20180913_105145.thumb.jpg.56b11042a77e8c6ac4d73269cacead04.jpg20180913_110452.thumb.jpg.fe75c4b3cd61080356b1ba64e0389ed2.jpg20180913_110525.thumb.jpg.2005954de7b381a64008c2b0cd69e333.jpg20180913_121108.thumb.jpg.4a2b555a75d1a0b4207e48227d600566.jpg20180913_133912.thumb.jpg.1555986dd9129ac0b78fa3e1629419e0.jpg20180913_155232.thumb.jpg.b82a8ad35e2522a2de86b52cc5f8b074.jpg20180913_155426.thumb.jpg.3028d017cd9c02bb2867ddd2763ef441.jpg

I think yesterday put me in the holiday mood. I should have been tending my acres but went to Wells and visited the exibition at the new Arts Centre. I then walked the Sculpture Trail. (Not quite up to Sculptures by the Sea between Bondi and Bronte but not a bad first effort)

This should give you a flavour:-

Yesterday - up at 0700, 0730 large tile cutter heaved into back of 'GriffTile' van, the damn thing is most awkward and heavy, spends most of it's time in my garage gathering dust - Just as I like it

0800 at clients, commence remainder of floor cleaning, remove kickboards, move huge fridge, 3 x dressing side panels, wiring conduit all this despite it being ready in all respects according to the client.  Commence floor tiling to kitchen / utility floors 12 x m2  in a large format porcelain tile  of 700 x 400mm.   Given lunch of fresh filled roll + plentiful cups of tea whilst on the job by client.   1730 - Tiling completed, tidied up, cleaned / stowed tools etc.  1745 at my Lads renovation house project - complete remainder of wall grouting to en-suite, deep clean down walls / floors to same.  Commence / complete cloakroom wall grouting.  1915 - at home, quick coffee, grab washboy.  1930 back at clients, commence / complete floor grouting.  2045 at local chippy as it would be unfair to as MrsG to feed me at this hour.  2055 at home, consume my dinner will a bottle of red coz I think I have earnt it.  I then should have done some emailing and office work but just couldn't be bothered with it, which I will pay for later.  And so completes another typical day in the life of 'GriffTile'

Today will be much better, clay shooting, leave house at 0915, home for 1230-ish.  Then I am toying with the idea of getting the Mighty Tiger out for a run.  -  J.W (In Stalham) has a problem with the electric window mechanism on his ageing Defender,  Sadly J.W is ageing too and he is struggling to repair it.   I have sourced new parts for him, they are here in Donny with me.  So do I ride down to J.W's and fix his Defender for him?  Well it would be rude not to.  The Tiger needs a run and what better place to take it?  I mean to say,  the distance has recently been reduced by 8 x miles each way so It's only a round trip of 308 miles.  So if I ride non stop it should take easily less than three hours, an hour on the job.  Back home well in time for the usual Sunday evening in the Harvey Arms. :default_beerchug:  All sounds good doesn't it?  MrsG not too enamoured by the idea, but then she never is when I'm out on t Tiger
