I assume you went to a dealer that far away to save money?

No. The precise model I wanted is quite rare with only a handful for sale in the UK, so had to be prepared to travel. The warranty is provided by the AA and should any work need doing our local MB specialist will undertake it under the warranty so not an issue. I was very choosy about which dealer to use and in the end opted for a slightly more expensive car from a dealer used to dealing in high end sports and prestige vehicles. In fact when we went to view the car the showroom included two Audi R8's, a Lamborghini Hurucan and a Porsche 911 GT2. Not (sadly) that I was shopping in quite that market.

The vehicle's had a full inspection so we've done all we can. Alas when buying used you pay your money and take your chances.

Sorry!  Assumed (wrongly) that you had purchased new!  My apologies.

No apology needed Happy. I would if I could, although actually on second thoughts perhaps not, I'd probably just buy something more exotic used!

New Dacia Duster or used Merc Cabriolet .... let me think about that for 3.28 nano seconds .....

Yesterday evening was the fourth session of the Stained Glass evening classes I've signed up for (well fifth really, as I missed last week due to being on the Broads).  Finished my first piece - a glass panel.  It's taken a few weeks as the first couple of weeks were spent learning to cut glass, first straight edges and then curves.  Then we learnt how to assemble the while thing in a form, cutting the lead to fit and grinding the edges of any glass pieces that didn't fit. The soldering is dire, but I still have a sense of achievement.

We're making butterflies next, using a different technique of joining the glass pieces with copper wire.  After that we'll be having a go at fused glass.  Homework over half term (next week) is to come up with some designs for that.

I'm so glad that the digital photography classes I wanted to join were all booked up.  I only signed up for stained glass because I was looking for an alternative.  What fun!

The day has finally arrived, I have been released from the shackles of work and will set off on a tired but happy journey back over to Norfolk for 11 nights of fun and frivolities on the water.

It's a cold, dark morning here so I'm looking forward to the bright sunshine and warm temperatures in Brundall, and that first pint again in a broadband pub :default_eusa_dance:

Have a great time. I'm looking forward to reading your posts and seeing your photos. But warm temperatures? Not today!! Unless your love is keeping you warm.  ;)

If you are gonna pick me up for a grammatical error, make sure your response doesn't contain it's own grammatical error :default_biggrin:

Anyway it's this ruddy phone I tells ya. Nothing to do with these beers that keep throwing themselves down my neck, the rst one was the best though :default_eusa_dance:

My sailplane passed its annual inspection today so its good for another 12 months.

Not really to celebrate, but we went to a nearby Italian restaurant for a far-too-good meal before our daughter has to be available on-call (she works in the toxicological lab of the forensic medicine department of a nearby major hospital).

One more task left for the day: change the clocks in the house.

  • 2 weeks later...

Saturday, Went to Spalding MRC Model railway shows, 31 layouts, loads of traders and society stands as well. Spent too much money, some very good layouts on display. very crowded later. Probably the effect of the great Model railway Challenge on TV, which has been give a contract for a second series for next year. This years final is 20:00 Friday channel 5.

Sunday, sailing three races, the middle one marred by a couple of sailors who need to brush up on the racing rules.

Then A private Ex hire motor cruiser barged it's way through the fleet shouting and swearing at the sailors, causing much evasive action.  The strange thing was it was towing a beautiful wooden sailing dinghy with mast. You would have thought he knew how to go through a fleet of sailors. I believe he was probably drunk, as after he cleared the fleet, the boat started head nose first towards the wrong bank,  before violently correcting it's course on up river.

We had a trip to Bournemouth today.  Alec sent a message last week to ask if he could come home from Uni for a few days as he doesn't have any lectures or seminars this week (I believe they call it 'reading week'). I took a day off work, Graham isn't working at present and Harry didn't have a shift today, so decided to join us.  What a treat!  The weather was kind too, a very mild day for November (up to 15 degrees C) with sunny spells.

We managed to get there by mid-morning, having started off early.  Alec took Seren around his student house to meet some of his friends, then we took off in the car to give Seren a walk along the beach.  We found our way to West Overcliffe Drive (where we knew there was plenty of free parking), parked in a spot near the cliff overlooking the beach and found a footpath down to Durley Chine leading to the beach.

Walked from there to the pier and back.  Harry hasn't yet grown out of collecting shells and interesting jetsam (don't think he ever will...one of my grandmothers was just the same).

Graham tried to persuade Seren to get her feet wet, but she wasn't keen.

By the time we got to the pier it was lunch time.  We'd noticed a Harry Ramsden's just beyond the pier but we couldn't take the dog inside, so we returned to the car and drove over to the pier complex, parked in a shady spot and had lunch in Harry's (very good - beautifully cooked fish and chips, not at all greasy and very good and friendly service) before having a short walk through the lower gardens.

The gardens were being prepared for the big Christmas display, so I must have a look at that when we pick Alec up for his Christmas break!
