I am starting to get the hang of this working from home lark, its good because i can fit my hours into the day as i like - eg I start at 6am and finish at 3pm, i get a few jobs done then go and sort out some breakfast, then work some more, then lunch, then a couple more hours and after 3pm my time is my own and i can get on and do things around the house. tomorrow is the big day - i go out shopping for food (if there is any) I am trying to stick to my normal weekly shopping schedule, ie 9am saturday morning, but we will see how long it takes to get around the normal 3 shops (lidl, asda sainsburys, though if i can get cat litter elsewhere i will and can then cut out sainsburys) i have my latex gloves ready (fortunately I had a big pack in the workshop)

I havent really had a lot of time, as I have been working from home - the printer however has been running flat out, its currently running a batch of transparent parts in high resolution, yesterday was the high resolution helmsman (8 hour print - it took longer to create than the original model), next run will be a batch of flexible material fenders, yeah, so although I am saying I dont have a lot of time, I am cracking on, next will be painting the hull i guess, maybe after I finish working today if this weather holds on

Isn't 9am when they reserve the time for the elderly/vulnerable to shop? Maybe it varies from store to store?

I went for a walk today with my husband and eldest son, along a lovely wide stretch of footpath & bridleway that runs along the Grand Union Canal. It was lovely to be able to get out of the house during this period when most of us are cooped up working from home, or just stuck at home. 

There were lots of other walkers and cyclists out, but everybody was very good about keeping their distance. It was quite funny to see really...how we were all keeping as far apart from one another as possible. 

We went as far as a new marina complex that is being built. The actual marina has already opened on the east bank of the canal and I was amazed at how many boats are already berthed there. Construction is still underway on the opposite bank, a new footbridge has been opened and some flats are complete and occupied.

The information board and a notice above the canal mention a planned offshoot from the Grand Union Canal to provide a link to Bedford. I wonder if that will ever happen and how it will be funded? The info board mentions that there will be a number of water-parks along the route, so maybe that's to attract investment. 

We turned back and crossed over to the lower section of Campbell Park (which runs down from the Milton Keynes Shopping Centre to the Grand Union Canal), found a quiet bench and had a picnic before walking home again. This was near our bench...

as was this plaque marking a junction between two of the National Cycle Routes.

On the way home we passed Gulliver's Land (very quiet, normally there would be a lot of screaming from kids on the more exciting rides).

Seren really enjoyed the walk. We all did.

certain days it is - not saturdays that i am aware

at Tesco it is Monday, Wednesday and Friday

8am to 9am Monday and Thursday at the M&S food shops.

I had my last day at work today... Not sure when I’ll be back... driving boots hung up....  I had my last boat fix earlier I just sat back feet up having a cuppa thinking would this take up much room at Oulton broad..

First day of "Summertime" and the snowflakes are hitting the window panes.

Yesterday - Commenced with cleaning the block paving front of house. Most of the day at it on and off, well there is hardly any rush and it's not like I am pressed for time.    I have completed two thirds of front of house stage one.  Stage one being a 'V' shaped wire brush on the end of a pole, followed by brush n shovel.  I reckon another two or three days to complete front of house, driveway and paths to rear before moving onto stage two.

Decision time, with it being Sunday do I give myself a day off?

Today should have been clay shooting for me.  That's obviously not gonna happen

That's a shame, after all, your shot normally stays 2 metres away from the clay.  :-)

Very good - Well done 

However, I will have you know that once my shot is airborne with a velocity of around 1000 feet per second, more often than not I can report that the clays do actually fly into it!  (Sometimes)

What I can't understand is you posted this on Friday, and nobody has yet shown any outburst of absolute disgust at the fact that in picture 2, you show a boat underway?. Had this been a pic of a boat underway on the Broads, people would have been demanding the arrest and imprisonment of the offending crew. That's what they're doing on Facebook, "they" being some members of this forum (you know who you are), dare I say a hint of hypocracy?.

What the picture doesn’t capture is the effing and blinding coming from the guy in the moored-up boat. If you zoom in you can just spot his head poking out of the hatch as he yelled after them.

I would imagine the boater on the canal lives on his boat. The journey he is making may well have been within the terms of the government's instruction, so why would anyone criticise, without knowing the details?

An hour ago, on the HSC web cam, I saw a motor cruiser making its way downstream through Horning. I only mention it now, in response to your rather aggressive post. I'm sorry you have such a low opinion of some of your fellow forum members.

I watch a number of YouTube vlogs from folk living on the canals and usually continuously cruising. One in particular has stated that they are now moored up and will only move when they need water or fuel or any other essential services. You just never know what reason someone has to be on the move when you can't ask them.

Hello Helen,

Looking at your picture the travelling boat also has a chimney for a wood burning stove so could be a live-aboard, we do not have sufficient information to make a judgement.

There is no ban, on CaRT waters or the Broads, to prevent those who live on their boats from moving their boats. CaRT has simply made it easier for them not to have to.

Agree however most canal boats are likely to have a chimney and canal boaters are very keen on looking out to see what/ who has gone past. May be one occasion where a picture doesn`t say a thousand words.
