thingamybob
I have just fired up the old egg beater (outboard) in a water filled dustbin this afternoon. I gave it a service late last year and it has been sleeping in one of my storage areas over the Winter. Success! it started on the second pull which is par for the course with this engine. It is always good to see the water coming out of the tell tale as fitting the leg back, after servicing the water pump, onto the body of the engine is a bit hit and miss and the water pipe connection is a bit iffy. I have had the boat battery connected to some solar panels over the Winter and I measured 11.5 volts across the terminals and 15 volts when the engine is running. That will do for what I want out of the battery. I have just got to sort out the flipping hooter which is a yearly chore where the vibrating contacts need to be cleaned and adjusted, a fiddly job. I just might buy a new one when I get to Wroxham (Norfolk Marine). All she needs now is a good clean all over and as I am retired will spend at least eight weeks over the Summer out in the fresh air fishing, beer sampling and I might just sling my barbeque in for good measure. Happy days! Deep joy!
