ginbottle
The windscreen wiper motor has burnt out on our little Norman 20 and while trying to find a replacement, came across this... https://www.asap-supplies.com/electrical-components/windscreen-wiper-systems/hand-operated-windscreen-wiper#menu
Wildfuzz
"This simple manual windscreen wiper consists of a through bulkhead pivot, operator handle, wiper arm and wiper blade. Operated by hand, the manual screen wiper provides variable speed screen wiping, intermittent operation and multiple parking options. To vary the speed simply increase or decrease the speed of operation of the handle. For intermittent operation, turn the handle occasionally. Please note: Operator not supplied as part of the kit." ChrisB
Sheridan Marine, the Freeman specialists at Moulsford, Nr Goring on Thames used to sell loads of them. I fitted one to an old tractor cab and the passenger side of a Land Rover that only had a drivers wiper. ( might well as not had anything). Used with that screen clear fluid they are ok.
Oddfellow
I reckon with a bit on ingenuity, you could rig this up to some kind of motor......

In our case, easier and cheaper to gaffer tape a sponge to the end of a stick and reach round the side of windscreen!

Vaughan
In the old days that was all you got on a hire boat, if you had a wiper at all! They are totally reliable, variable speed and need no wiring up as their operation is mandraulic.
stumpy
That's just what we have on No Worries - hasn't let us down yet! I did think about electricating it but after measuring a mates S1 Landie motor I reckon it'd add nearly 3" to the minimum air draught - sometimes 3" can make all the difference!

SteveO
We used to have a manual wiper on our old Freeman 23. Was OK for light showers, but got to be a bit tedious if you had to use it for prolonged periods. Steve
BrundallNavy
I have an excellent system on Nipper, I get the other half to put on a coat ( don't want her catching a cold) go outside with the karcher vac and clean the window when I cannot see, only breaks down when the battery goes flat. tjg1677
Had one of them when I had a Norman 23 years ago. Worked brilliantly.
