Just seen on the News:

Windows defender may contain a bug allowing somebody to take control of Windows computers. If you manually download updates then please update your Defender. The news did not say if the Security Essentials is affected but I am assuming that it is. There was a 20 megabyte download this morning and at present I am downloading another update which is also rather large. I am also scanning with Malwarebytes just in case.
