They had the Dunlop denovo (or something like that) as well. didn't they get put on the mini 1275gt as standard?Different concept with the foam already inside in little cylinders. They were bloody horrible on the  1275gt and no where could fit them.

I don’t like minis either for some reason. Great concept, but not for me.

Yes the Dunlop Denovo they was fitted on most of BL range... Princess maxis and marinas...

Back on the test. Wonder why they don’t get people to change a wheel. Bet it's not just the gentler sex who may struggle.

Or in modern day terms I guess use the tank of gunk!!!! In a demo mode of course. I’ve never used one, but can change a wheel in minutes.

Learnt that wheel changing speed thing replacing the rear offside wheel on the hard shoulder of the m4 in pouring rain. With the highways boys watching me and telling me to drop everything and run if they shout. Cause either that or I will be dead!!  Funny how that speeds you up.

I can see those run flats haunting me now.

And on cars with full size spares (I’m a big fan too). Bit of a problem in a sports car with different size wheels front and rear though.

Mind you so is a space saver. When you try and put that bloody great wheel in the space a skinny little wheel has come out of the luggage has to go on the wife’s lap!!!

Tyres eh? Have I even mentioned the Austin Allegro panda car currently residing in my workshop? It came with a collection of paperwork including a copy of this advert for Uniroyals...

Well Mr Scrimpy, burton down in the wilds of Essex (famed for ford tuning) tweaked the old 1275 up a bit. Made it bulletproof.

i actually put a twin webber on it (mistake) and limenition electronic ignition (it was cheaper than a new distributor which was knackered). Problem was too much power for the main drive shaft in the gearbox which I snapped!!! Well it might have just been the abuse i gave it!!!!!

ok I couldn’t afford an escort Mexico. But the firenza looked better. :default_beerchug:

Mexico escort.. Great car.. My Mk2 RS2000 with limited slip diff loved that car..

Couldnt beat rear wheel drive especially in the wet going around the roundabouts kicking the assend out.... Saying that my old Granada 2.8 Ghia x use to take some serious welly to kick her end out.... But my best one was my 1986 Rover Vitesse SD1 3500... fantastic in straight line speed... bends and roundabouts was great fun ha ha ha....

Is it me all is it today’s cars are very boring they all look the same and sound dull

im going to show my ignorance and have to  ask what the wagon was?

It was in the Zodiac as pictured. I was very lucky to be involved in Historic Touring Cars for a few years until recently.

Here's one I am currently playing with..

3 ltr V6 Essex would pop in there a treat.. That’s the only proper sound from a Capri

Not sure my reactions are up to the understeer of an Essex V6 these days...

... so I popped in one of these with a nice 5 speed.
