Timbo Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 I know this is going to be obvious as I'm an idiot but: How do I draw accurately around an object with opposite bevels so that I can make an accurate copy of the original? Here's what I'm trying to reproduce, they are trim for Royal Tudor's windows. The shapes are curved but the edges are bevelled in opposite directions. If I draw around the shape, three sides will be reasonably accurate but what's the trick for the fourth side? Quote
grendel Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 draw the shape of the curves on one side of the piece, then cut to the lines with the bandsaw set to the correct angle, technically you can probably get away with just one curve, cut that curve, and then scribe the line of the curve to the width of the frame, and cut the second curve. that is unless the angle changes as it travels around the curve, then set up a template for each side, onto the wood, cut outside the lines and trim back with a spokeshave 1 Quote
