Just for a bit of fun, and to give you all a taste of a quiz, here is a round from a recent friday night. How many can you get?

Q2- WHAT WAS THE SMALLEST PRE DECIMAL NOTE?

Q3- HOW MANY THREEPENNY BITS (3d's) IN A CROWN?

Q4- WHAT IS THE MODERN EQUIVALENT OF A GUINEA?

Q5- YOU HAVE BEEN SHOPPING AND BOUGHT TWO BAGS OF CRISPS AT 6d EACH PLUS A LOAF OF BREAD AT 1'1d. YOU PAID WITH HALF A CROWN, HOW MUCH CHANGE DID YOU GET?

A- THE 10/- OR 10S NOTE (THE 10 BOB NOTE WHICH BECAME THE 50P PIECE OF COURSE)

 

Q3- HOW MANY THREEPENNY BITS (3d's) IN A CROWN?

A- 20 (4 TO A SHILLING AND FIVE SHILLINGS IN A CROWN)

 

Q4- WHAT IS THE MODERN EQUIVALENT OF A GUINEA?

A- £1.05

 

Q5- YOU HAVE BEEN SHOPPING AND BOUGHT TWO BAGS OF CRISPS AT 6d EACH PLUS A LOAF OF BREAD AT 1'1d. YOU PAID WITH HALF A CROWN, HOW MUCH CHANGE DID YOU GET?

A- 5d. THE GOODS CAME TO 25d (2'1d) AND YOU PAID WITH 2'6 (30d)

 

Q6- HOW MUCH IN NEW PENCE WAS A TANNER?

A- 2.5P

As did I, but the posts above make me wonder quite what for. I always thought something akin to Bristols, though it has been suggested it's more like your Zachary Scotts.
