Flood Warning On River Waveney From Ellingham To Breydon Water

Dear All

Urgent Boating News - Flood Warning For The Tidal River Waveney

A Flood Alert has been issued by the Environment Agency for the tidal River Waveney from Ellingham to Breydon Water.

This message has been issued because high water levels are expected due to the natural tide locking caused by high waters at Great Yarmouth, which is restricting the normal drainage out to sea of the Broads system at low tide. High levels in the Broads may last for a few days until the high tides have passed. The situation is not expected to escalate.

High water is due at Great Yarmouth at 9:15am on 16 January 2018. The detailed forecast for those that use it is for a peak level of 1.31mAODN, which is 0.55m above tide tables. The wind forecast is Force 7, westerly. (mAODN means height above average sea level, for more info refer to local tide tables). Levels can take several hours to peak in the Broads in response to incoming tidal waters.

Kind Regards

We came over Reedham Ferry this morning and the Ferry man said he would stop running until the tide dropped later.  Tides over the top at the pub and ferry.
