Guest Jayfire
When you're in need of some R&R and can just pack a bag and head off, is there any better destination than the Broads (the rivers not the women.....well 😇) Shame the wind picked up and the rain arrived just as I departed the marina 🤦♂️ Busy Reedham.. Guest Jayfire
Wednesday 5th May I awoke at home early due to the sunshine that was streaming through my window, as I rolled out of bed ready to set out on yet another run a severe case of CBA hit me. I ran the obligatory minimum 5k to keep my run streak going but I'd already decided that once home and showered I was going to throw a few things into my bag, namely beer, and have a visit to the boat The journey over was long and slow due to the usual lorries and tractors using the A roads, but I managed to arrive at the marina in time to throw my meagre belongings through the cockpit into the saloon, give the old girl a quick check over, then opened my sea cock and released the lines to set off at a little before 4...just as the wind and rain started Unperturbed I travelled out of the marina and was soon making my way up the New Cut and the river Yare in the direction of Norwich. By 1620 I was passing through a busy Reedham Regular readers of my ramblings will know that I never have a final destination in mind and so I just plodded along the Yare. Cruising out in the fresh air is my favourite part of boating and as the rain had decided to stop for now despite the grey skies, I set about getting the canopy all released and ready to drop down The rivers were very quiet (thankfully) although most mooring spots were busy, the time being around 1730 by now, I guess hirer's were making sure they were secured up as the light began to fade with the cloud cover A group of swans were making the most of the empty waterways until I came along to ruin their peace and quiet And the painted Beauchamp Arms stood out as I cruised by at about 1740 I continued on up the Yare, passing Rockland broad entrances as I did so I really do take lot's of photo's it seems 😄 By 1810 I was approaching Brundall and was very tempted to call into Coldham Hall but I resisted this time A familiar spot with many happy memories Leaving Brundall behind I continued along the upper reaches of the Yare as a hireboat caught up with me from behind, not sure they liked my choice in music as they attempted to overtake me, but then thought better of it and sat in behind me until they moored up opposite the Ferry House The rain began to fall once more as I passed Surlingham and so upon reaching Bramerton I slid into a mooring spot and raised the canopy once again at around 1900 hours Before settling down inside listening to the rain fall on the roof and relaxing in the cosy environment of my boat as the sun slowly set And by a little before 2100, it had just about gone, leaving me to head off into bed
vanessan
It is rather ‘blue’ isn’t it! Certainly looks more like a residential property now than a pub. Good to have your wanderings back Cap’n, like others I have no idea what your comment on ‘burning bridges’ is all about.
Guest Jayfire
Just now, vanessan said: Good to have your wanderings back Cap’n, like others I have no idea what your comment on ‘burning bridges’ is all about. Doesn’t matter Mrs V Just now, vanessan said: It is rather ‘blue’ isn’t it! Certainly looks more like a residential property now than a pub. Am I allowed to say that I quite like it? Not sure it really fits in as such but it certainly catches the eye, and to be honest in recent times it's not really been a pub anyway

More like a bit of an eyesore imho. With the various live-aboards moored in front, frankly, there is little room for potential patrons to moor. They’ve even thought to paint ‘welcome’ above the door. Still not sure for whose benefit, though.

Guest Jayfire
The weather has been horrendous this morning, hopefully starting to brighten up a little now though....I even nearly got the swan into the pic 🤣
YnysMon
That spot at Brundall won't look so familiar soon. MS is now on a new mooring. Apparently, Brooms are going to develop that bit of key heading into a site for day boats. Did you get on your way before we passed Bramerton this morning, or was I just too dozy to spot you moored up there? Isn't the weather horrible this morning. Seren wants a walk. We want the rain to stop!
Guest Jayfire
Where abouts you moved to Helen? What time did you pass Bramerton? I set off around an hour ago...just passing the blue pub again now 🤣
YnysMon
I think it was probably around 8.30. We're at Whitlingham, sitting around hoping the rain will let up, or at least ease off a bit.

Manys the times we just stayed on the mooring watching the world go by.

Sue, see below, circled in yellow. The original mooring is being developed for day boat hire.
