Guest Jayfire
Monday 7th June So where do I start? I arrived at the boat last last night, and launched my single bag (I had travelled on the bike) into the bow and settled in for the evening (yes, with a beer) I woke up on Monday morning at around half 5, I always wake early on the boat, but with the sunshine streaming in I wasn't going to complain. I put the kettle on for a latte, brushed my teeth as it boiled and then settled back into bed to relax with my cuppa whilst I had a read of the forum and other general tinterweb based regalia. I was waiting for an Amazon delivery to be, erm, delivered to the box at the train station and so whilst I awaited it's arrival I spent my time being busy sitting around and gapping spark plugs...no really Anyway, the package package around 12ish, so I had a walk over to the station and then, purely because it was so lovely outside, I wandered over to The Bell Inn on my way back. Yes I know I'd walk past the marina to get to the pub from the train station thank you very much Anyway I'm rambling as I always do, so I had a couple of drinks whilst enjoying the sunshine and watching the boats pass by, and some try and moor. Some managed it in rather unconventional ways (far be it from me to say more luck rather than judgement) and some just gave in to the outgoing tide and decided to try and find an easier spot to stay By around 1600 I decided I really should get myself into gear and head off to enjoy the rivers, seeing as I only had today, rather than laze around all day drinking outside the pub So I walked the short distance back to the marina and began to untethered my gorgeous little beast (canopy down of course) So here it is... 1635 I had left the marina and made the short journey along the cut to join the Waveney River and took a starboard turn to head in the direction of Beccles (music playing) The usual sight of some strange pile of bricks in the way What do you know, Herringfleet moorings are less than 10 minutes from my own. I wasn't stopping though See, I wasn't alone. It was actually very busy on both the river and all of the moorings As you can see Somerleyton Bridge (closed) And then the lower Waveney past Somerleyton, basking in the gorgeous sunshine A little after half 5 and I was off down Oulton Dyke, some sort of stuff seems to be being erected here But I trundled on, because I had a beer and the sun was out... Heading out onto Oulton Broad...not my favourite Broad, but not far off It was soon time for me to make an about turn however and head back over the Broad and return the way I had come...some WAFI'S were hindering my progress at times As were the bloody wildlife But the journey always makes up for it And despite being a short unplanned visit, I've loved every second as I now settle down for the evening before heading home tomorrow
