The Gunton Arms is just South of Thorpe Market on the A149 Cromer Road. Very nice set in beautiful parkland. A few miles past Waitrose on the outskirt of North Walsham.

We stayed at Corton once but never got around to Gunton Hall. Would be interested to know what it's like there. Given that we have the caravan just along the road from there now it's not somewhere that we are likely to stay.

Jean, like many local facilities, Gunton Hall offers, or used to, membership for folk who want to use their facilities but not stay there. For example my wife and I have season tickets to Africa Alive at Kessingland and Sea Life at Gt Yarmouth and have in the past had memberships at Gunton Hall and Wild Duck at Bradwell when our children were young. Africa Alive is fifty quid a year and is just such a nice place to spend the day or to have just an hour's wander around. The carboot sale at Kessingland on Sundays is probably the best in the area, followed by a visit to the zoo, almost as good as being afloat and good for us older bones.

Thanks for the info JM. Stayed at Kessingland many years ago but haven't thought to explore that area more recently. Have been wondering what we might do tomorrow but not made our minds up yet. Want to go out for the day but we both prefer to avoid the crowds ... a sunny bank holiday will certainly make a lovely change. :)

We went from Wroxham to Potter,Busy also.Had a look at the pub. They have done well, decor seems a bit dark.Think they are still only selling bottled beer.

We settled for a ice cream instead.Very good large cone  of salted caramel and toffee,Marina sorbets. Enjoyed looking at the water.Taking time out now back at Gunton then on to dinner.Morning on the boat,it don't get better then that.

Ps watching Chelsea vArsenal  women.

For anyone in the area but not afloat, I have just found out that it is the Tour de Broads tomorrow. Sounds like this is a fun ride of various distances for up to 3000 cyclists mostly riding in groups. So watch out if you're on the roads.

Thank you for your post.     Chelsea14Ian.    Often thought of going there.   Your apartment (or whatever) looks very smart.

Peter , is that £50 each for Africa Alive.     One of my most favourite places to visit ,   the loos are spotless and they have a rating of 5 for their eating places.

Tock the boat out today, hoping to have lunch at The Reed cutter.Full, then back to The New Inn Rockland.Full I was lucky  to turn the boat around. So try Coldham Hall,Just got in there very nice it's odd&because it's close to cove we

rarely call in there, which is a pity it's a great pub.The river and pubs were very busy today. On our way back to Gunton Hall now.Picture of new knob in place.

Give Gunton Hall a try,Think for us it's better then Corton. Lots to do on site close to the sea and the broads.

£50.00 each but that is less than the cost of two visits and means that you can drop in when passing for a stroll for an hour for example.

Safe travels Ian. We’ll be heading for home ourselves soon.

Been to Lound Garden Centre this morning for a look around and a cup of coffee. That place was a great recommendation JM. :default_icon_wave:
