Does anyone use this type of charger, is it effective? I can see that it will obviously have limitations but if it actually does some good it may be all I need. I guess that if it works through the 12v accessory socket (cigarette lighter thingy) then only the leisure battery will be topped up but that would be fine for me.

With an output of 1.5W it won't put a lot of juice into your batteries. On a really sunny day you might get 0.08 amps  so all day to put 1 amp into  you batteries cloudy days a lot less.

Thanks, I'm an amps, volts etc dummy I'm afraid and could easily buy the wrong thing!

Actually is there a basic guide that anyone can recommend, I should educate myself on this.

I have a small fold out solar panel that has 2 usb ports for topping up my phone while I am out and about, plus a whole raft of smaller solar powerbanks that i just leave sitting in the sun to recharge.

Please see my post as this post reminded me I took my two off the boat when I sold.
