Another Weekend On Broom Captain...

Sadly there boats still get knocked.I remember a few years back,one of there boats was a week old ,and getting fuel at Brooms the chaps were patching up a boat that got stuck at somleyton bridge.

Whether a coincidence or not but at the moment down South it seems to be mostly Brooms hire boats that are out.   Seen two Faircraft Loynes a few Richardsons two Pacific cruisers and a lot of Brooms.   What with yesterdays torrential rain and winds we are still drying out now.  Mooring was a real treat.

We certainly learnt a lot about boat handling, we now have our own  yacht on the south coast, but would like to hire from broom again someday the trouble is the cost to hire for a week is our marina fees for a year.

We do enjoy reading about peoples adventures on nbn, the broads are a wonderful place to be.

 

 

Whereabouts on the South Coast do you keep your yacht, and what type is she?. We live in East Dorset, about 34 miles west of Ringwood, which is in Hampshire.

So you must be just north of Dorchester.

No Ian, Dorchester is well west of us. We`re in EAST Dorset, about 7-8 miles North of Bournemouth, and about 2 miles inside the county line between Hampshire and Dorset.  Things changed a long time before i moved down here with boundry changes etc, as Bournemouth used to be in Hampshire.

Sorry your post said 34 miles west of Ringwood. Confused by the EastDorset statement when 34 miles west.makes sense now.

We keep her at Newhaven Marina, which is between Brighton and Eastbourne, she is a good old Westerly Centaur, 43 years young, still original Volvo engine and never misses a beat, good job really as there have been quite a few windless days.

Do you ever sail to Poole Harbour at all?. If so, from April - September, every Tuesday evening, they have bike night on Poole Quay where you can get upwards of 3,000 bikes, so if you`re into bikes (which sailing folk often are), then a visit to Poole Quay on a Tuesday will be very enjoyable.
