Vaughan
That's all good stuff but the normal Broads mooring rope is 3 strand "soft laid" left hand laid rope. If you hold it in front, pointing away from you, the strands will twist towards the left. This will coil naturally into the left hand, but will tend to kink if you coil it right handed. TeamElla
Hello Vaughan, Yes we use 3 strand rather than the braided in the video. But I'm left handed and I do have the exact problem with knots forming as demonstrated when making the coils before hanging them up. (And I was taught to do it that way 50 years ago by a sailing instructor!).
annv
I personally don't like braided rope for mooring, it looks nice but i find it picks up all the thorns and any prickly rubbish that's laying on the ground.John
Turnoar
Old main sheet was good enough for me, really old main sheet left on the moorings for bed time, the best bent on the blocks, time to part with some kite when it goes stiff or won’t run free or both. Old climbing ropes for springs!
