Its a wonderful debate guys, I'm loving it and I am glad Grace and I have finally put up a challenge for the resident experts of broadland pubs.

The latest one was indeed the Reedcutter at Cantley well done, but the longest lasting which pub question in history is still unsolved. It hasn't been

Sunday 4th November

After an extremely late night on board the boat on the Saturday night, there was a very long delay in getting up and at them on the Sunday morning.

The weather showed promise of the forecast upturn in conditions, although it was cool the skies were brighter and the sun was out.

The dog as always was walked around the vicinity of Broom boatyard and I enjoyed a coffee or two. 20181104_123352.thumb.jpg.cb2227640e60ecb0c9c10282ab9b9c23.jpg

It was such a lazy morning, that I wondered whether to move or actually just sit and enjoy the day where I was, but in the end, I was told I was moving on to Rockland, and I felt it only right to do as I was told.20181104_123829.thumb.jpg.10979beb41a4af0a6a9bb158404112f8.jpg

The tide was ebbing out and as I left my mooring the natural movements of the water pointed me towards Norwich, without bothering to correct the natural path the boat was following, I headed up the Yare and took the longer route via Bargate to return to the Yare on my exit from Brundall.20181104_123912.thumb.jpg.ad9893f8ab2cb0b81dd972da001d45e1.jpg

As I turned down the Yare towards Reedham, I was met by a sight that would have many cowering in the cabins (ahem Grace, it's safe to come back out now), as loads of flappy ish type things were all over the river from Coldham Hall Yacht Club (sailing club...whatever). I couldn't get a better picture but there were many more than shown.20181104_124626.thumb.jpg.a326412aea5eb31dc70ac43a1e83541f.jpg

It provided a little bit of fun as the progress along the Yare continued.20181104_125027.thumb.jpg.cf6bcf9f1adb2c93bcee311f0b2ed05b.jpg I passed a number of boats along the Yare before eventually taking the turning for Rockland Broad via Fleet Dyke and then down to the Staithe at Rockland St Mary20181104_130426.thumb.jpg.c40b960d4d8db566540376f657575863.jpg20181104_130523.thumb.jpg.6a6ab4352449091c982ebae101bbcaf6.jpg20181104_131456.thumb.jpg.a650ff627d4ec614990ae72aad9cba2a.jpg20181104_131515.thumb.jpg.4e0fa78be4f3fac3935756c6f32b0d25.jpg20181104_131716.thumb.jpg.5490f7b902397085a452ebe5fd6acd48.jpg20181104_132259.thumb.jpg.2f782969bbd88884044b68e71566b588.jpg20181104_132336.thumb.jpg.35995fd379ee334435cb28037a078a36.jpg

We had a short walk in the village before stopping off for refreshments at the New Inn, and once again I was tempted to stay at the moorings at Rockland, it was quiet, there was a pub and there was a bed ready and waiting.20181104_133549.thumb.jpg.460b677f96e498ed5b40f8599356132e.jpg20181104_145404.thumb.jpg.54828860ee8e721ce084ccc5a8b50f76.jpg20181104_145430.thumb.jpg.90a0ad74f59e193d07125ef49654381a.jpg

Nevertheless, I was convinced that it was far too early to stop and so taking up the lines it was off again for a meander up Short Dyke20181104_151604.thumb.jpg.be6d3cb73f8829717698c2eb06db779f.jpg 20181104_152710.thumb.jpg.1075ecf4a7eab3a367030d167488c4fe.jpgand onwards along the Yare until I reached Cantley.20181104_153041.thumb.jpg.70fad5b28021300bc8912e5fa382d18d.jpg20181104_153340.thumb.jpg.44c822a8c7134836ac6fc16359dd500a.jpg20181104_154029.thumb.jpg.10c54f6d286cef14e585d7de9a3d5c5d.jpg20181104_154250.thumb.jpg.4c85e25aa48d8bee7a3d96b98ce14b25.jpg20181104_154617.thumb.jpg.05bf767051b8ff32954343fb7a73a81d.jpg20181104_154634.thumb.jpg.b725d8fa8de141e302ce356db3e4e4a9.jpg20181104_154815.thumb.jpg.d443544a2060b2e83d94041c873d8123.jpg20181104_155024.thumb.jpg.464c5dc6e14c09c64942cbe62bde601a.jpg20181104_155321.thumb.jpg.1461598529f1d39d6a1809b555f68801.jpg20181104_155425.thumb.jpg.0bba9c9d5ac39cca8f29d7d9d71f9fb6.jpg20181104_155537.thumb.jpg.a18c3abbb2c00235d91271fa6f8abd0a.jpg20181104_155321.thumb.jpg.1461598529f1d39d6a1809b555f68801.jpg20181104_155425.thumb.jpg.0bba9c9d5ac39cca8f29d7d9d71f9fb6.jpg20181104_155537.thumb.jpg.a18c3abbb2c00235d91271fa6f8abd0a.jpg20181104_160136.thumb.jpg.6af83db80b5f8268d4405a0c0ebb4afa.jpg20181104_160140.thumb.jpg.6d768607077233f79a51b0418b0fe08b.jpg20181104_160422.thumb.jpg.91ffef265584106a05b112cd021f5230.jpg20181104_160517.thumb.jpg.d52988c6ef603a549769d93c20d1164b.jpg

Pulling into the moorings, I noticed the same Summercraft boat that had left Rockland shortly after our arrival, a coincidence I'm sure :default_smiley-angelic002:20181104_161351.thumb.jpg.b3bb4291fc126927f717249500216242.jpg20181104_163512.thumb.jpg.c97604e276802cac51653afbe2a5da58.jpg

After another walk with the dog, it was onto the Reedcutter for a few refreshments 20181104_163632.thumb.jpg.2053889848ff7d38fc026c52f1e58819.jpgbefore returning back to the boat in the dark

And then relaxing on-board with wine and conversation, before an early night after the late night last night :default_rolleyes:20181104_175906.thumb.jpg.b72e5f9d1948e84612326194c7299966.jpg

I'm going to suggest The Ferry At Stokesby for the "difficult" one!

Good guess Trevor but it's an Adnams tied house so they wouldn't normally sell Wolf. I've gone through every pub on the Broads in my mind several times but must admit I'm stumped.

Okey dokey, the pub in question was actually The Yare in Brundall. I thought the fire and the bar pictures may have given it away, but obviously not.

Ah!!!!! We pass the Yare quite regularly but it never seems to be open! I can't recall it having a fire, must make a special effort to get in.

Keep them coming JF - need to keep us on our toes :default_biggrin:

It's just one of those love it or hate it places I think.

If memory serves me correctly, it's open all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday, then Mon-Thurs it's 12-2.30 and 5-10.30 or 11

Morning Jay. Love all the photos from yesterday. :)

A beautiful sunny start to the day here in Lowestoft. I can hear the sea while I’m sitting here eating breakfast. We might venture over to Potter Heigham later for a wander around. Very fortunate with these mild November days.

Looking forward to catching up with your travels later.

Good morning Jean ()

Thank you very much about the pictures. It sounds great in Lowestoft, it's just starting to brighten up here in Cantley with the rhythmic sounds of sugar being prepared/produced in the background :default_biggrin:

Have a great day in Potter Heigham, I'm about to set off once more this morning, no idea where I will just see what takes my fancy, no doubt it will be somewhere against the tide :default_biggrin:

See you soon

Probably the one pub I frequent the least on The Broads for no other reason than being an owner it's quite hard to find visitor moorings in Brundall. Although I was about to suggest The Yare Inn honest :default_smiley-angelic002:

I wonder if I might be allowed to turn the tables? One I took in September and forgot to post at the time. I'm sure it's an easy one, shouldn't last long.Untitled.thumb.jpg.e2c207e101ca9b068cd936e09657a27b.jpg

They had a rather good Oakham beer on in September.

The fuller version of the earlier picture was taken facing the other way away from the bar.

Bit of an oxymoron Broadland Sunrise and Abbot!

Only one pub would sell those side by side

I reckon Lord Nelson :default_swordpir:

Oops sorry Mr Nog, I was busy regalling jokes of hilarious proportions in the joke thread :default_hiding:

Its not the Lord Nelson I'm afraid sir, a gallant attempt, but no.

BTW, if I continue this enthralling game should I return to days of yore, do you like the new collage way to make it a bit harder or would you prefer a mix?
