Bits and bobs and a trip in a veteran racing boat

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

been very tied up of late with working in conjunction with a couple of off shore wind farm projects and a delivery trip up to Montrose so I have been out of touch a bit.

I just cannot believe the amount of money being thrown at these wind farms, all the treehuggers who try to tell us that offshore windfarms are the most cost effective and non polluting source of energy need to go out and buy a new pair of sandles and smoke a bit more dope. The amount of fossil fuels being consumed to construct and service these things is massive.

Bringing me on to the use of fossil fuels.

There is the opportunity for a couple of passengers to accompany Ocean pirate, a veteran of 2 Round Britain Powerboat Races, on a trip from Lowestoft to either Ramsgit or Dover, in August. She will be on her way to participate in the Cowes -Torquay-Cowes event.

I thought it might be a good opportunity for a couple of fellow boaters to get some sea miles in on some unfamiliar waters. There will be the opportunity for some RYA training in radar,AIS, and Raymarine plotters as well as helming the boat.

The cost will be around £220.00 each one way. A good opportunity.

Hi what are the dates as i would love to go on ocean pirate, I have stood on board at the southampton boat show after the last round britain race and mored along side her on the waiting pontoon on the way back into lowestoft at last years air show and have chatted with mike a few times about the boat.

I am doing the power boat 2 coarse next weekend with the company who use ocean pirate for training but i will be on my own boat for that.

cheers Barry

Hello Barry,

good to hear from you and your interest in 'Pirate'.

I took part on Prate in the 2008 race and what a suberb event it was, lots of knockers, but we were one of only 3 boats that went all the way round on water, not boat trailers.

The provisional date for departure from Lowestoft is Monday 23rd August. More details as time goes by, but I'll buy you a pint or 2 in the Belgian Bar at Ramsgit!!!!!!

Have a look see here www.oceanpirate.co.uk

Hello Wayne and Barry,

I look forward to your company for the trip down, we can take a total of 4 people so there are still 2 places available. Should be an interesting run down. If you can PM me with contact numbers, I'll call you with the arrangements.

We are off to the Orwell on the 0300 bridge lift tommorrow and overnighting in Shotly. might catch up with Perry and Dave.
